    Exclamation A new math problem!!

    if you solve this using graphing calculatro, u won't get the right answer so save ur time and use ur brain.
    (x^2-2x-8)
    ^
    (x^2-5) =1

    * x squared -5 to the power of x squared minus 2x minus 8, the whole equation equal 1.
    now the question:
    Find the sum of the squares of the possible solution(s).

    i think you can just find the log(natural log or ln) of both sides

    x = -2,4, +/- root 6
    those are the answers i got

    to find the sum of the squares is easy now...

    my steps (because i had nothing better to do than type it ALL out)

    ln(x^2-5)^(x^2-2x-8)=ln(1)
    (x^2-2x-8)ln(x^2-5)=0

    x^2 -2x-8 = 0
    (x-4)(x+2) = 0
    x=4,-2

    ln(x^2-5) = 0 = ln(1)
    x^2 -5 =1
    x^2 = 6
    x =+/- root 6

    sum of the squares is 4^2 + (-2)^2 +(6^2) +(-6^2) = 92

    but atleast i got x=square root 6 (the plus or minus should have been assumed)
