Three guys rent a hotel room for $30 - they each pay $10
the hotel manager realizes that there is a special lthat night so he sends the bell hop to give them back their 5 dollars. The three guys decide that they will each take a dollar and give the bellboy $2. Now since they got back a dollar each, they each paid $9 for the room. And they gave the bellhop $2... that 3(9) + 2 = 29
where did the dollar go??

they get their 3..makes 28
and bellboy 2
makes 30

well heres my way of solving it (i could be very wrong):
so 3 guys pay $30 for a hotel room which is $10 per person
there is a special as you said...$5 discount
which makes the total $25
they didnt "really pay" 9$ per person
with the five dollars they got back...they kept $3 and divided that evenly amongst them and gave the other $2 back to the bellboy so in conclusion...
$30originally paid - $5 discount = $25 dollars + $3 split evenly amongst themselves + $2 given to bell boy = $30 and no money missing!
