Hot Shower=Bad??
So today in class I was talking about how I love hot showers in the morning, cuz im really cold then. And then add, "I usually just stand in there for an extra 3 minutes cuz it feels so good".
and this girl, out of nowhere, starts up with..."NO! that is bad for your bones!!! your gonna have problems!! when your cold like that, hot showers are bad!"
uuummm, is she on crack? Or is there something idk about showers?

I've actually heard that bathing it too hot of water can be bad for the skin. Apparently it causes an increased production in sebum, therefore resulting in skin breakouts.
LPR - can you confirm this?

I think what she meant is if you are really cold and then suddenly heat up your body really fast it wont be good. Same as when you come in from cold outside (if you have cold winters) and you dunk your hands in hot water, it feels really weird. Usually quick changes can be more risky thank slowly easing yourself into something.
But I dont agree with the chick.

hell all i know is that cold water dose not help my bonner.

I don't see how a hot shower can be bad...
I like hot showers, the only thing I can see is that like a hot tub it'll slow your heart rate. Very relaxing!
On the other hand, a scalding shower makes my skin itch... probably dries it out.

In one of his articles Anthony Roberts talks about running hot water for thirty seconds and then cold water for thirty seconds in a post workout shower. Something about it helping your muscles recover. I'll find a link. Not sure if this is related.

". . . I had her begin taking "contrast showers" which is something I learned about while playing rugby in New Zealand. The idea here is that you alternate between 30 second bouts of hot water and extremely cold water during your post-workout shower.
A large body of evidence suggests that contrast showers can decrease post-workout trauma and activate the central nervous system to aid in recovery. . . "
From Anthony's article, Fat to Figure. Link is blocked but the article is on Anthony-Roberts.com

In one of my classes we learned that some cultures dont believe in taking hot showers because they think it will give them authritis later in lifer. Freaking crazy if u ask me.

It was just hot showers, it was being cold in the morning and jumping into a hot shower and maybe spending an extra 5 minutes in just cuz it feels good.
She didnt say bad for skin, but bad for your bones...lol idk.
I just kinda laughed and said, well, I drink my milk and get my calcium. And she said something again, but I didnt catch it....and I was about to tell her how stupid she is, but the prof came in.
