Vette or Mustang
I am looking to purchase a nice used sports car for a weekend driver. Right now I am torn between an 85 Vette or an 88 Mustang GT with T-Tops. I want the T-Tops or a removable top since I sold my Katana to make this purchase. Who likes what? My only reason for considering the Stang over the Vette is, I would like a backseat to bring my 4 year old son around with me and he shouldn't be in the front seat of any car, specially a Vette with me at the wheel! Thanks.

The Jeep is next year, I have the Expedition for winter driving at this time. Although, a nice soft top Wrangler would be option number 3.

even though I prefer today's Vette over the 'Stang, if you're talkin' the 80s, I'd get the Mustang ... I've had friends with Vettes of that era and they've been nuthin' but TROUBLE - plus the T-Tops are SWEET! (and the back seat doesn't hurt either)
ok, that's my 2¢

The 'vette is obviously in a different class altogether than the Mustang. But if you need a back seat, the 'vette ain't gonna cut it.
How 'bout a Camaro instead? '80s Camaros handle better than similar vintage Mustangs, in my opinion, and have pretty much the same engines as Corvettes.

HOWEVER, STAY AWAY FROM THE '82-'84 MODELS!!!!! there is a design flaw in the front suspension that actually causes the suspension components to sag, and will not only chew up your front tires, but even if you replace the parts, they'll just deform again (personal experience)
though I'm guessing from your budget, you're looking at something a bit newer than that ...
ok, so I guess I'm up to 4¢ now ...

the vettes made in the 80's dont really preform as good as one might think. The body's clunk and rattle and the engines are crap especially the crossfire setup. The cars just really arent fast at all. The mustang on the otherhand with small mods can be made extremely fast. If you buy a vette plan on doing some engine work or swap to something with more power.

Gotta be the Vette hands down! Mustangs were cool back in the day but by todays standards...those cars are slow!!!

Go with the Vette, but the insurance might be high compared to the stang.

I have had several stangs and a couple vettes in fact i had an 87 vette that i just sold It all depends on what u wanna do with the car the 80's vettes handle great compared to any stang and were ahead of thier time but the motors are crap. If you wanna go fast the 5.0 mustang is the way to go there are tons of aftermarket goodies for those cars and now that the 5.0 is outta production the goodies are gettin pretty cheap
Oh yeah you might wanna check the year on the mustang they only put t-tops in the 87 models maybe a few early built 88's they stopped because there was to much body flex...nothin frame connectors wont cure though...good luck with either choice

Katana? Why would you own a Katana? It's a good thing you got rid of it. That bike's a piece of sh*t. I personally would go with the vette.
