I like the smack on the ass and pull the chain they get it right after a few aggressive tugs. Not to hurt the dog but so he knows what he is doing is no good.

got to show your dog whos the boss and what you want him to do.....he will love you more after he knows his place. i use the "rub the dogs nose in his mess then throw him outside method".....always worked for me

I used a paintball gun to potty train my kids.
jus kidding. I dont have any kids....but if I did, I'd get a paintball gun.
I always wanted one of those tear-gas paintball guns that Dog the Bounty Hunter uses.

I don't think shooting a dog in the ass with an airsoft gun qualifies as proper, decent, or humane canine training. If it was your neighbor's dog that continually shit on your lawn, then I agree, but it's your own dog. Get some help from a dog pro.

I've got a neighbor/stray cat that sleeps on my firewood rack and always kills small animals/birds and leaves them on my porch. Maybe the airsoft is the humane way to go.

Please don't do that. There's a difference between discipline and abuse.

You have to start using a command that the dog will associate with 'doing wrong'. I use a firm NO with mine usually enforced with a sharp tug of the dog lead. (If out walking). You must be quick with the discipline, watch your dog closely and you'll see when he's about to do wrong, that's when to tell your command. Don't forget to praise him lots when he does right. You can force the command on your dog by putting him in the situation where he will do wrong and then discipline him. (Simply by placing a treat on the floor, make sure you have his lead on and teach him the command you want when he tries to get the treat).
It takes time and a lot of patience. Try not to get mad with him and play lots. I trained mine about 5 times a day for ten minutes a go. Oh, and never call your dog to you to discipline him. He'll learn not to come to you 'cos he's going to get told off. Again with housebreaking, watch your dog, you'll see when he's going to go to the toilet. (Sniffing, pacing about especially in circles). Before he does: NO! OUTSIDE! Then lead him outside. Tell him this is outside and stay there until his done his job and then praise him. Crate training is good for housebreaking too.Last edited by LBT; 11-07-2006 at 09:01 AM.

what if you accidently shoot him in the butthole and the pellet goes through and ruptures his colon?

interesting responses.
in response to shooting me with a pellet gun: a plastic bb projectile rate is not near as harmful as an actual pellet gun...which is made to penetrate.
in response to the dude with the comment on animal abuse: so i can go to the store, buy an electric dog collar to shock the sh.t out of it, but making a quick, harmless sting is animal abuse? no different from spankin a dog IMO. and this is not my first dog (don't know where you got that)
"Please don't do that. There's a difference between discipline and abuse."
and i agree with that, which is why a non-skin penetrating plastic airsoft bb is more humane than beating its ass.

dude...pain is not the best way to train a dog. the best way comes from using alpha male domination which you need to do so the dog can associate the action with you. Pick up a dog training manual if you are thinking about this. NO offense but it sounds like you need a lil education if you are willing to do something this severe.
p.s. Random pain where the dog can't tell where it came from is a good way to teach your dog nervous behavior.

Good point Zimmy.
I heard grabbing the dog's snout firmly or holding it firmly around the neck shows dominance and makes the animal more likely to heed your demands/instructions/repremands.
If the dog knows you are dominant and "can" cause harm, then there is no need to actually hurt the dog.

positive punishment is as effective as the alpha male technique. which can include light spanking or leash tugging. a plastic airsoft bb is way less painful than a light spanking. reasoning behind using a plastic bb is to decrease the time between the 'crime' and punishment so the dog can relate as to what it did wrong.
p.s. Random pain is not even a factor in this discussion, and its common sense as to why.

sounds like you already made up your mind crash. Why ask for opinions if your just going to shoot them all down. Just go and shoot your dog.

next opinion please.

Yeah I too hope it bits a large chunk outta your ass.
you don't need to hit a dog at all to get it trained properly, if you hit them. you're too lazy and or stupid to train them properly

a dog wont get house trained cos of dominance..or alpha techniques..
i have my share of dogs..bred bull terriers..mastiffs..akitas.
some are very quick to learn some can take six months..hopefully the breeder of your dog got him trained on paper from an early age..if not then it may take some time..how old is this dog? has it got the run of the house? it should be confined to the kitchen until clean..
more info is needed about your dog before before the right advice can be given..if your gonna shoot it though unless you did that every time how would the dog know that it was for shittin..it would probably associate you and the gun and be a embarrassin cowaring wreck in your presence and prob pee an shit with nerves..JMO

My home is on the edge of the Jungle and infested with gekko's (House lizards).
Its not to much of a problem as they are small and eat the mosquitos and others bugs.
I also have large gekko's "Tokay". Some are over a foot long and make a hell of a noise.
They are scary, loud and nocternal.
I bought Glock 19 and Desert Eagle airsoft guns.
I've uprated the springs and valves, bought red gas and ceramic bb's.
We hardly have any Tokay any more and when we do they aint about for long.

I can not believe I read all the way through this thread. Great ideas, however I do not think shooting the dog will solve anything. I am working on a 14 week old lab and I don't think a 12gauge in the ass would harm this beast.
