military question
I have heard people who have attempted suacide will not be aloud to join the military even if a draft is called. Is this true?

It depends on when it was recorded, and what treatment was used. I know the Canadian Military will let you join, as long as it was over 5 years ago, and you have been on anti-depressants since. Aswell, a doctor has to appove of your mental/emotional state when applying.

Unless your suicide attempt was recorded in some court case like a criminal trial or something, it would be hard for the military to track down records like that. Are you trying to join or what, though? If you are, then pick a job that doesn't require a secret clearance because they will dig into your past if that's the case.
The above statements assume you are not going to open your mouth and tell the military about your attempted suicide.
If you decide to be honest and tell them about this, you will have a very difficult time getting in. You'll need medical waivers and have to speak with shrinks and it will be a long, painful process and I'm not so sure they'd let you in even with a clean bill of health. It would be up to the Doc at the processing station.

It's hard to say, though it is a certainty there will never be a draft unless there is all out war. If you plan on joining the different branches are hard put to meet quotas and will overlook most anything. If you are referring to yourself get a pre-enlistment non-combat agreement. A person in a combat situation are under tremendous stress to their emotions and basic moral foundations. Check out the Air Force, they have more normal and routine life-situations/jobs.

There will never be a draft! If you want to join be discreet and get a pledge for a non-combat role. Training is basically the same for all recruits, those heading for combat and those not. There is only one training program and more than physical requirements it amounts to brainwashing, or rewiring the brain thoughts of recruits to conform to the military hierarchal regime and unchallenging military authority. If you don't want to get 'drafted' and there is all out conflagration admit to them you are suicidal. They will not induct you.

A guy in my former platoon killed himself while we were deployed in Iraq. It's sad, he a was a cool kid, like 19 years old and full of life. He got a Dear John letter and the next day he shot himself. What a stupid fcking reason to shoot yourself, over some chick. There were actually a few people in my unit who attempted suicide while we were deployed. Each time it was a chick problem. So fcking retarded. I mean, you're in a fcking war zone! If you want to die, for fck's sake, you're in a goddamn war zone! Kill some bad guys and go balls out, if you die, it's all good...you want to die anyway! And since you're deployed for a long ass time, you might even change your mind by the time you rotate back to the world. And if you get that far, you've got enough money saved up for a real nice second hand Corvette or some shit. Now with a Corvette and a real nice "I don't give a fvck" attitude, you should be flooded with a steady supply of women at least until you kill yourself driving your new Corvette...some fcking people, man.
