I was just wondering how many people here grew up in a rural life. I grew up and still live in a small town well going to college and working on the family farm. I was just wondering how many of you grew up in a rural setting.

being farm boy made me strong!
both my parents came from fairly wealthy families but they decided to raise us out in the country. we didnt have electricity or running water until i was 9. started going to school in 6th grade, got expelled in 9th, and got my GED when i was 16. honestly im glad as hell my parents raised me like that, we never sat on the couch watching TV and eating white bread like a lot of kids. we all worked hard, were in good shape, and were straight A students in school although all of us were a little shy and i was/am exceptionally anti-social and high strung. even sometimes today id like to throw my computer and tv out the window just to simplify things.
I agree I think living/working our family farm helped me develop a good work ethic and morals
I dont know if that has anything to do with being raised in the country... I was raised in the piece of sh!t city of L.A. and I still feel that way sometimes!Originally Posted by zodiac666

Ive been a city boy my whole life.
It gets too old too fast. And WAY too many people. We vaction up to the smokey mountains in NC every year, and it is so nice.
I wanna retire somewhere up in mountains in a nice little town.
for the first 15 years of my life, i was raised up on my grandparents 200 acre farm. best years of my life....
0-13 i was in a small town. not really rural part of it but still a country town, 55,000 population i think. then city and im 18 now and i love the city.
Born in San Diego, family moved around a lot when I was younger because of dad's job in the airline industry, but settled and raised in the Northwest part of the US. Parents bought a ranch and we raised beef cattle and quarter horses. Because of some issues with my dad and horses, I stopped riding and went over to dirt bikes. But I would say that the hard work and discipline required for country life is one of the best ways to develop character, ethics, and morals.
