    Homebrew Beer

Does anyone here homebrew beer? Just cruious how many folks out there cook up their own suds. I have tried it here in my current locale with some less than standard brewing ingredients...will be albe to enjoy a Christmas beer atleast!

I have a few times. The first time it didn't turn out so good but the second time I had some help from a friend who is a brew master so it turned out great. One was a raspberry ale and the other was a java stout. Try making wine, too. Wine is a lot easier with the kits and ends up tasting great. Friends and family will be really impressed to get a bottle of homemade wine from you for a gift!

Here in Iraq, beer is impossible to come by, so we are forced to homebrew. I bought a Coopers Ale kit..seemed easy.. the Mix, sugar, yeast...let sit...bottle..let sit...drink.... but I am not getting much action though the gas valve- when it does gas, doesnt give off the yeasty smell I remember, actually smells like beer!

I have spent many years in the Middle East where I turned non alcoholic beer into alcoholic beer by adding sugar and yeast. It doesn't taste bad and has the required effect!

The breweries at home spend money and a lot of time taking the alcohol out for the Middle East market ..... we spend a lot of time and a little money putting it back!!

i thought that homebrewing can be quite dangerous, or do these kits make it reasonablly safe.

My family has made homemade brew/wine/shine for years..

Now they only make homebrew but i remember the "shine" days. I think i drank all the homebrew my dad gave me..he is always making different kinds. He was so proud when he replicated American "water" (beer).

He tries all kinds of different hops etc..
