the speed which dimas power cleans 170kilo to rack it to squat is unbelievable

im increasingly amazed that at the power/speed combo of olympic level lifters

the "tiny chinese guy" is 14 and 50 kilos if thats any more incentive for someone to watch. probably stronger than some of the lifters that pass through here

fyi olympic lifting and powerlifting are completely different things. thanks for the links though olympic lifters are arguably the best pure athletes on the planet.

I have always wanted to learn the olympic lifts properly but never found anyone that can teach me Got to love how those tiny guys throw up more weight above there head than I can deadlift.

well the way i look at it olympic lifting is the actual power sport - i mena you have to accelerate the bar you arent getting theb ar onto your shoulders/over your head by actually using your hands you use the power of your legs to accelerate the bar

powerlifting as we know it is more of a strength sport

but maybe my point of view is flawed?

i guess i consider them both sports but the type of speed-strength exhibited by oly lifters translates more to traditional athleticism. like in alot of the former CCCP kids were actually selected at a young age for the olympic program, and mostly based on things like a 100m dash and long jump.

then you look at some powerlifters and the guys can barely walk lol. definitely they're pure strength athletes and not at all what we'd call pure athletes.

vasily alexyeev supposedly ran a high 10 time
In this picture from Wikipeida, he's the guy on the right
