There's a few guys on here that should respond to your post. Depends on mods to the car you are looking at. If the FMS/ECM hasn't been messed with and it is stock mileage will be pretty good. I have an 02 SS with an LS-1, 380hp and it gets over twice the mileage of my v6 olds bravada. Turns really low rpms at freeway cruising speeds.
anyone else know of this.. right now i have a 94 camaro w/ 3.4 L 5 speed manual.. lol .. want to upgrade
I have a 96 a stroker 383, and believe it or not I got 600km on the highway.. its not too bad!!
btw... City.. SUCKS ASS

Not bad, I get around 460 miles to a tank, but definitely not in the city. All hills in Seattle and probably get 12-15mpg in town.Originally Posted by needmorestrength
my small block 350 gets 10ish
The LT1 will get mileage in between a classic 350 and an LS1. so 18-20 ave. If you can afford it, I would definately try to get a car with an LS1 (97+corvette/98+transam and camaro) They are more powerful and yada yada. amazing gas mileage.
oh and watch out for the optispark on the LT1. notorious for failure and expensive to replace.
whaaaat 460miles to a tank? im lucky if i get 250miles to a tank of 15 gallons...soo thats 16.6mpgOriginally Posted by ecivon
I knew it wouldn't be long before you showed up here. Yeah, it's true, I was pretty surprised myself. I had an Olds Bravada V6 that basically had the same mileage as yours. I drove it from the west coast to Illinois a couple of times and was always pissed off about the mileage. Last year drove the SS to Illinois and would get 460 miles to the tank. Shocked the s**t out of me, but nice! The LS-1 has an unbelievable fuel management system/engine control module. On the freeway at 2200rpm's I'm going 75mph. But get into it and watch how fast it drops -- but even then it's far better than one would guess. It's all in the electronics. Had a 64 1/2 mustang with a stroked hi-po 289 with a big cam and double pumper that basically got zilch and a Typhoon (turbo with 280hp) that got zilch, but technology baby! Have a great Thanksgiving Bro ...Originally Posted by aadrenaline
LT1 are a nice motor, but the LSx motors have alot more potencial. If you are planning on modding the car, I'd suggest looking for a 97+ F-body with a LSx in it, due to tuning ability with the O**2 BCM/ECM.
It will be alot more fun, and more powerfull than your 3.4L v6, and the 350 motors are not that bad on gas either.
my subaru wrx gets like half of that... i put it in 3rd gear up my mountain and drive at 50 mph and it revs hell hard but its fun to drift! up a mountain atleast
my lt1 will get 315-330ish to a tank.stock if a stick u can get close to 30mpg in 6th gear, city maybe 18-22 if your lucky.stick with the lt1, ls1's are cool, but you cant beat it for the price...and ill take any ls1 that wants to go...bring it...(smiley face)
If you have a LT1 with a six speed you should get between 26-28 mpg. If you get an auto, (which I dont recommend) you will bet about 25mpg. Little side note, after I got my procharger put on my 2000 ws6 6 speed and got it dynotuned I got 28.5 mpg on my way home with 60lbs injectors and 500 rwhp. Can beat technology.
