I just got offered one myself.....I am still debating about it. Ihave never done it before but the place is pretty mellow-lounge type..I might give it a try one night a week during the winter.

it can be fun. you would want to work in a place where not much happends. the easier the better. i know alot of guys want to be tough and get into things but safety wise you dont want to much of it. one night a week is nice because you dont want to give up your whole weekend.

Just messin with ya. Bouncing is fun. I did it for a few months then got trained behind the bar to bartend. If you have a chance to do that you can make more money most the time but you run your ass off all night if it's a busy joint.

I still can not say no to a drug or alcohol so for me to stay clean I have to avoid the situation. After I develop some will power I might have to follow up on this

    Story time.

I was at a bar on the dance floor when this guy bumped me. Hey, no nig deal it happens. A few mins later he bumps me again, now I turn around and make it known and he see's me but says nothing. The third bump was the winner, I turn around and he is facing me, I pushed him as hard as I could in his upper chest which not only threw him across the dance floor but he fell into a table where all these girls were. It was a perfect shot . Well in about 1 nano-second I feel the grip of king kong on my chest from behind. I (5'7'')turn around and look up and see this 6'3'' had to be like 250lbs guy saying time to go. I kindly walked with him to the door and left.

    i pick my fights wisely

it depends on the place. I worked in a cheap mexican club and there were fights all the time but nobody really got hurt. I bounced @ a predominantly black club for a while and 6 people were shot in the 3 months I worked! The club I work at now is a very nice place and I kick an average of 4-6 people out per night and I haven't had anybody actually swing on me here yet.

I bounced at a strip club briefly while in college. That is the best job in the bouncing world because of the cash and benefits. It was a topless joint with some rough characters but most where small and drunk. Nothing 2 guys could not handle on their way through the door head first. Fun times.

Agree with Superhuman, I have bounced for 13-14 years and trouble is pretty dependant on place/area you work in. I work in quite a posh venue at the moment and throw out about 2 people per night mainly for intox. However I have worked at clubs where every night was serious fighting for a couple of months. If you go to a place with a bad rep you will have to "clean it up" which is when all the fights take place because you are barring or ejecting punters who have been there before you and they feel outraged that they are no longer aloud in. Try and find a place that is already clean then you just gotta stop the scum at the door and eject drunks.

I've worked in 4 clubs and 1 bar - pay was different everywhere but it's all cash.

1st place was a bar and I got $5/hour plus I got tipped out so I usually made 70-80/night

2nd place was a nice club in ATL and I made $10/hr

3rd place was a club in statesboro and I made $40/night, however on busy nights I could make over $300 working the back door "letting people in"

4th place was a mexican club in ATL that got pretty rough, they paid $15/hr

The place I work @ now is a nice club in Augusta and I get $60-$70/night and I only work 4-5 hours

Not really, but no smart club owner/manager is gonna pick and average guy or short guy because people are always gonna want to "test" him u know? Having big and tall bouncers is more of a deterrant than anything.

Additionally, it's a lot easier for a big guy to restrain and carry out someone who's acting up than a smaller guy. No doubt many smaller guys can fight and win - but that's not smart business. Beating peoples' asses leaves the club open for lawsuits (my best bud actually just got fired last week for that)

Not ALL of them are monsters, but the majority are. I mean, I'm a relatively good size (6'0", 240) and I feel like a bitch around some of those dudes. Then again, everyone in Vegas is on the juice or GH

When I used to bounce I did a couple bars in Niagara Falls and had a gun pulled in front of me on my first night, so it's not always as fun as it may look.
I remember being involved in numerous fights but for the most part it was a lot of girls just coming up to me and hitting on me.
It all really comes down to what kind of bar you work at. If you're at an upscale bar with a mature crowd then you're a lot less likely to have problems then when you're in a bar full of thugs.

I respect you guys who are bouncers 'cause you have a difficult/hazardous job without commensurate pay...plus you have to deal with drunk assholes who think they are 10 feet tall and bulletproof.

I make £15 an hour plus we get extras (like back door entries ect). Size is not the most impotant thing in bar/club security. The most important requirement is good people skills. 99% of all trouble is sorted out by talking and keeping cool. Of course you must be able to back up your words but if you get the talking right they should walk. Drunk people are the easiest ones to eject, they are drunk so you can just bullshit them into walking outside. I normally tell them a girl want to talk to them out there or if they come out to talk they can have a cigarette or whatever. Then once outside just leave them there. If they refuse to leave I come back with a bucket of ice cold water!!
