Anyone know about audio systems ? My subs are ****in up

I got 2 rockford fosgate dual voice coil punch stage 3 subwoofers, each 6-800 watts RMS I think, and a rockford fosgate 1000 watt amp.

I have them in my extended cab s-10 inside a box with a "hole" in it where the connector for the speaker wires to the amp wires was and one of the subs is pushin more than the other. I dont know whats up, they are both wired correctly and were working fine but now I am having this problem.

Maybe a coil went out ?

Please help me out, I am not too knowledgable with this shit.

    thanks.

I know you said everything is wired correctly, but have you checked EVERYTHING from the amp to the box to the speaker? YOu could of shaken a connector loose inside the box.

well they were wokring fine for a long time so I dunno.

What connectors are you talkin about? I checked eveyr connection that I can see besides what is inside the amp and if that is a problem I basically have to replace the amp because I cant solder anything that small.

Inside the box....Or should I assume that the wires just go throught the hole?

What about the connection to the speakers? Not to ask MOO questions, but I've shaken wires loose before and it didn't sound like you opened up the box and checked.

I did dude. I took the subs out and checked em and everything. they are conected fine.

Someone said since htere is a hole on one side there is no pressure and that will cause that speaker to move more which is whats happening.

    ???

couple questions: is it a single or dual chamber box?? By hole do you mean a port or just a speaker wire terminal?

are the speakers moving to the music? if so, is there no bass?
if they are not moving, is your amp lit up?

make sure that the box is sealed as tight as possible? if so, make sure the positive and negative wires are on the right way, otherwise the speaker could be pumpin backwards...

I am not retarded man lol. The sub was working fine before, then it does this. I am assuming the coil wire came loose inside the sub or one coil went out. ??

    Sounds like it.

Check the dead channel on the good sub...just make sure its not an amp issue.

You can also try running each coil independently...

Not only that, but try each coil of the bad sub as well. You'll probably have to take them out and it will sound like shit, but if ones dead, it will be pretty obvious.

Sounds like a coil problem. I'd do what fLgAtOr suggested. It's the best way to check it imo.
