    Salary negotiation (process)

so this human resources lady wants to see my W2 form to see how much i was making at my previous job. Does she have the right to request that and can i deny that.
They abviously use some sort of formula to determine your next salary from your previous job. If i slightly BS how much i am making at my current job, do they have the right to check my curent salary with my current employer?

They have the right to request it but I don't think they can require it. Whatever your making now shouldn't matter to what they'll pay you. They should already have a set salary for that position depending on your prior experience in that field. If you ask me, I think it's BS that they would ask for a W2. That's private info.

i know what the max salary is for the current job and trying to pump up that new company for more cash since the reason i am leaving is due to me being underpaid.
I'll just let her know that i am not able to locate my W2 form and give her some numbers to crunch since i am hourly and not salaried at my current job, but have allot of overtime, overtime is where i start making money, regular pay sux. I basically do to much shit for not enough pay at my present job.

This new job has no overtime and strictly salary therefore i am trying to get stable number.
