Windows Vista
Alright a few weeks back Vista went RTM. So who has it installed it yet?
I am on Vista Business right now, loving it so far. The new Aero feature makes for some good eye candy and i even like the sidebar (for now). I did immediately disable UAC as that ****er got annoying real quick.
So far my rating is a 3.4 and everything is running like a charm, i did attempt to load my old XP Sound card driver tonight and all hell broke loose. Vista shuts down everytime i try to uninstall it. I am working on the solution as it appears certain XP drivers are causing some issues. Most likely this will be resolved through Windows Update as MS will be adding more drivers the closer we get to the Jan 30th launch of Vista.
Speaking of drivers i am impressed to find that Vista comes with 19,500 drivers included in the OS which is obviously the most drivers than any previous OS. No wonder the ****er is on a DVD at 2GB+
Please share your thoughts on Vista, its gonna be around for awhile and we might as well start getting into the meat of the OS right away.
I have also found a tweak that allows for faster browsing in IE7 and Firefox, will post it later.***No source checks!!!***

A buddy of mine is running ultimate at work and loves it. I think its really cool how it auto-disable certain features based on your machines stats.

i have it...i disabled certain bs end user shit too...i luf it. It makes sense that xp drivers wouldn't work with it btw... it's doesn't use xp as a base code like xp used 2000 as a base code. Nice from scratch OS

Yep, the biggest problem with the upgrade is drivers, of course. Have you tried replacing the audio driver with a default windows vista driver instead?

Yeah, Vista obviously loaded it upon completion of the install but i did not fool with it much and went to installing my old drivers. I will check next time i load it (took it off and put XP back on)
XP is giving me hell this last week since removing Vista. Vista kicks XP's ass in everyway.
I want Ultimate..PM me if you have any keys for Vista or Office 2007
Seriously, my legit Office key does not work, wtf? And KMS was given me a error when attempting to activate my legit copy of Vista BusinessLast edited by Panzerfaust; 12-16-2006 at 05:01 AM.

We've had weird problems with vista licensing at my office. Apparently our enterprise license was only enough for 10 people!

I've been running Vista since RC1 on my 2nd machine.
I like it, good intuitive OS if you ask me, got some nice features and it integrates well with my home media gear.
Lots of people are having trouble though as they simply dont have enough RAM or procesor power.
You say you rated 3.4, that's ok but as the demands increase with appz running you could find that you'll be running low on steam. This machine I'm on now rated a 2.9 until I upgraded the RAM to 1.5GB, but it's only an internet machine so I'm not fussed.
My 2nd machine is mainly for video/photo work and for business appz. That's running 5.3 I think, but that does have 4GB of RAM so can't complain.

3.4 is damn good IMO and it runs awesome and looks even better (aero).
Here is what i am running:
P4 3.0Ghz HT
2GB Platinum OCZ DDR PC4000
400GB HDD
9600 ATI All-In-Wonder 256MB DDR
I had no problems with Vista, i am having issues with XP since removing Vista.
I have Vista Business RTM and it is a legit copy. Your rating in Vista is based on your lowest sub score, i can't remember what kept mine at 3.4Last edited by Panzerfaust; 12-16-2006 at 10:34 AM.

Probably the graphics card, the graphics is one of the lowest rated categories as it is allowing lots of room for expansion over the next 8 or so years.

Yeah, i think that might have been it. I am going to reinstall Vista because XP is ****ing jacked up big time, i cannot download SP2 because the OS crashes everytime.***No source checks!!!***

Clean install is always the way to go!!
Or run dual OS, that's what I do on 2nd machine coz I just cant get some programs to run on Vista yet!!
Either run dual on one HDD or you could even partition a big drive. Say 10GB, 10GB, xxGB. On each of the 10GB partitions install your OS and use the remaing partition to store all your files you wanna use across both systems!!
This works very well for me!!

Vista comes with both 32 bit & 64 bit, and of course depending on your CPU and motherboard you can install whichever you like.
Vista is a kick ass OS and is this is the first time in a long time that i am excited about a new OS. 64 bit is not unstable, Vista RTM'd back in November and it is finished.***No source checks!!!***

I tried Vista out at college last week and thought it was quite impressive. The only drawback was that your system has to be high spec to accomodate it. Also i'd wait until it has been out at least a year to see what faults it will no doubt have
