I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten charges pressed against them for hitting someone. My buddy is in trouble and is meeting with a cop tomorrow. Is he going to be arrested or do they just want to talk and collect facts. Thank you.

They will take a statement but you need to have a lawyer present or you could get in over your head very quickly.

yup, just plead guilty to breaking a guys jaw. they will just collect his version of events. he will likely be formally arrested just due to procedure, but wont be detained

well i have had charges pressed for fighting...i got arrested and stayed in jail for the day...but the reason i stayed in jail and was arrested was because i skipped my court date...they said they'd send me the date in the mail and i never got it...warrent for my arrest and i was canned...how bad did he beat the kid?

Depending on the state, amount of damage to the other person, and the age of the other person could vary if he will be arrested on spot, or if they will just collect his statement and give him a court date. Definitely a good idea to have a lawyer present.
