I used to train dogs in the military, they're great. Loyal no matter what, no matter how bad you smell, no matter what you do.
You obviously did all you could for her, since she got to age 16. That's pretty old, for a dog.
My consolations . . . it sucks when a loved one dies, especially when it's a dog.

Losing a dog can be worse than losing certain human relatives. Because the fact is some people spend more time with thier pets than thier own grandfather etc.
I love all of my family but I do realize losing a dog is just as if not harder than losing a close person from your life. And thats the degree I sympathize for your loss. Since nothing I say will magically make you feel much better, all I can say is if life didnt end at some point, it couldnt be beautiful while it existed. Same for relationships or anything beautiful.
This is simply the price we must pay to be alive and human.
I wish you the strength and right frame of mind you need to get over this as painless as possible.

I forgot to put this. I also know what you mean when you say she was with you since you were a child. You feel like you lost a piece of your innocence and childhood, and it unfortunately reminds you that we will all die one day. It sux doesnt it?

sorry for your loss bro. it sux. agree with everyone else, take a little time, remember the good times, and get another puppy. it wont replace the one you lost, but it well help your heart heal if you start giving your love to another one.
