NFL and Speed
Does anyone know a website where I can find how fast NFL players are?
Everytime I find a bio, its just of stats i.e. height and weight.
I read somewhere where some recievers ran a 4.2 40. I was wondering how fast linebackers run them.
Thanks.

Top receivers run in the 4.3s..I'd say 4.4s is average for a receiver. Corners about the same. Safeties similiar..Linebackers I'd say in the 4.5-4.6 range. 4.2s is rare but theres a few in the league that are that quick. You can count them on one hand the ones that are quicker than 4.2

4.2 is definetly top shelf for 40 time. as far as I know D. Hall on ATL is the only player i know of that currently runs a 4.2. he is a CB. usually CB and WR tend to be the fastest. as chest said 4.4 and lower is ideal but some WRs run 4.6-4.8. LBs are quick but they arent as fast as WRs or CBs. I would say the fastest LB runs a 4.6 at best.
1. WR/CB
2. RB/S
3. LB/DE

4.6 eh for a linebacker?
you can try out for a NFL team right? Even though you dont play for college?

i think thats only if they hold open tryouts. otherwise i believe you have to be invited to try out. you thinking of trying out?

I think some teams hold open try outs.
Im really thinking about trying out in a few years.
right now, Im only at 190 lbs. I can get to 230 within a few years, and thats ratio wise up to people like Urlacher.
My 40 time right now is a 4.8 And again, within few years, 4.6 or 4.5 shouldn't be too hard.
I played all in high school, lettered my freshamn year, Im only 19 now. I know how to tackle and all that good stuff.
Im about to buy a running chute and some agility ladders.
Im actually really exicted, if open try outs really exist...

Not trying to piss on your parade..
But you better have been all american highschooler..
Alot of good colleges players don't make it..
What makes you think that all of a sudden your gonna have the talent of an NFL player?Chances are slim to none..But hell i'm gonna pitch for the CARDINALS next year...So who knows?

You might have a shot pitching for the CARDINALS next season...hoper were still talking abou the same sport.....suppan is about to be gone along with mulder and marquis who I pitched with in high school. He was nasty, although I hit em all the time in practice. I played 3b for Tottenville and we won state my junior year in 04'. I now play college for the University of Tampa NCAA Division II JV squad. The varsity team is nasty, won it all last year and had 6 players go in the top 8 rounds of the draft...not bad for a D II team ayyy.

I played Div I ball (SS) for four years. There's a reason why less than 1% of all college football players make it in the NFL.
I'm not saying it's impossible for you, because I don't know you or your abilities...but I am saying that there's a lotta guys with more experience than you who can't make the cut (maybe more talent and natural athletic ability as well, but again I don't know you).
However, I do wish you luck in your endeavor.
