Do you think seeing a shrink is bad if you got a problem ???Originally Posted by 305GUY
Nope.....I have the same problem, i use to drink alot, and all the time, then i did some other things for awhile, then another thing for awhile, but i had to quit because i was getting no where. Then once i stop drinking and partying i started to lift wieghts, and now its like when i find something i like i just want to focus on that and i get absorbed in it!! As long as you put your mind to positive things like school and getting healthy, Addictive personalities is what makes good money and a healthy life! You have to shift your mind to do good though! If not, then you end up thinking you need a shrink for something you can do on your own..if you are strong enough.
i definitely have an extremely addictive personality, once i get into something i'll do it hardcore whether its a good or bad thing.
I totally agree, but some people are not strong enough and do need outside help.. I know i did..Originally Posted by Anabolic CEO
Yeah, if it wasn't for my girlfriend pushing me to do better and me getting it through my head that i need to do better, than i would be getting wasted right now, and still be no where. So i thank My Girl!!
And there is another way to look at it you can have an addicitive personality and not go overboard, then there is full blown addicition where your body becomes dependent on things like drugs or alcohol then you need to be detoxed, from first hand experience that a motherfvcker, then you got gambling, shopping, spending money, stealing, and sex, witch is just as bad financally ( a lot of people kill themselfs over there fiances )Originally Posted by Anabolic CEO
Great point because i don't have an addictive personality in the sense that i have to drink everyday and i need to drink, but when i go out and start drinking socially i usually end up drinking the whole night.Originally Posted by stuball
Yeah, thats what i use to do then i crossed this invisable line from social drinker to full blown alcoholic !!! It took me years of rehabs, detox's, and jail to finally surrender, and realize i was powerless over alcohol !!!!Originally Posted by STYLE74
Yeah i hear you bro. So do you think that's where the difference is?Originally Posted by stuball
What do you mean by that ??Originally Posted by STYLE74
In other words do you think i have an addictive personality because once i start i can't stop or do you think if i started to drink everyday then it would be considered an addictive personality?Originally Posted by stuball
Have to agree with most of the posts here. I have had problems in the past as I totally absorb myself in whatever I am into wether it is good or bad. Weightlifting saved my life.
I really cant answer that but it can become a problem i didnt start out drinking every day, but by the time i hit 37 y/o i was sleeping with a bottle of Vodka next to my bed because i would start having seizures if i didnt get alcohol into my system .. One thing i can tell you is a friend of mine asked me if i though he was an alcoholic because when he got up in the morning he craved a drink, and i told him if you think you have a problem you most likly do..Originally Posted by STYLE74
Yeah that's the thing i never crave alchohol or anything like that (food sometimes) but when i'm out and i have one drink it usually leads to another and another for the whole night. For the most part i rarely drink though. Glad you are doing well bro and not drinking.Originally Posted by stuball
Thanks bro, that was my AA meeting for today !!!Originally Posted by STYLE74
Hi, My name is ****** (removed to protect my annyonimity), and I am an alcoholic!
I figured if we were going to start a meeting...we might as well open up like one!!
addictive personalities is just a lack of self control. Its an excuse to make yourself feel like you have a diease. If you are ****ing things up in you life because of something look at the positives and negatives. If they are goings towards the negative stop doing them....so basically yes you are a pussy.
I have add and addictive personality...Not a good combo...![]()
Well first alcoholism can be hereditary, and some people just dont have a choice, and most people drink or drug to escape their problems, and in my opnion hes not a pussy if he seeks help to better himself..Originally Posted by tinyguy2

Sounds so easly tinyguy2, but some people cannot stop the negative no matter how hard they try. Some people are weak only because they cannot admit this to themselves or ask for help. It takes a strong man to admit he has a problem (drugs, money sex...etc..) and ask for help.Originally Posted by tinyguy2
Why don't you just relax with bull$hit posts like this!Originally Posted by tinyguy2

I definately have an addictive personality. Had a problem with alcohol for a while, smoked mucho weed in college and I've always been a sex addict and this is the problem I still have.
Even though I feel haunted and guilty by at the same time, I don't want to stop. It's always on my mind and I'm always looking for my next fix.
I met a few woman for anonymous sex from craigslist which, I respond to every day. Lately, I'm putting out "feelers" in the gym with insinuating glances and I hook up sometimes that way.
I banged a young seemingly troubled latina whose boss is my girlfriend and that's just asking for trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets back to my girlfriend because I'm imagining that this girls a talker - she seems unstable and I feel terrible for using her. I've even frequented prostitutes in the past (used protection but it's sleazy stuff nevertheless) and in general, I'm always flirting.
Recently, I even nailed this ugly annoying chick right who works for me just because it was convenient and I was horny. We did it right in the office with another office right next to ours. I'm sure they heard us.
Every night is filled with a session of porn.....I can never get my fill.
I'm not sure if I could ever be monogomous as much as the idea seems wholesome and worth pursuing. It's a funny thing that you can get so controlled by sex and frankly it leaves me feeling kind of empty somehow. Frankly, I feel like a lost soul.

Son? Lol! Sounds sensible though. It's a weird thing when you love and hate something at the same time. Experience is complex. I think the worst thing about being sexually addicted is that it often gets in the way of more noble pursuits. Not to mention, you're hurthing other people.

There is such thing as a "weekend warrior", people who don't drink during the week, but totally go crazy on the weekends. I'd say it's still an addiction, because one is too many, a thousand never enough LOLOriginally Posted by STYLE74
Love it, ya got the AA lingo down !!!!Originally Posted by prncezzml
I see your point but there are times when I don't even drink on the weekends. When I am training hard and dieting I don't even touch a drink at all. I know there are so many different definitions but I would think that an addict is someone who depends on it and can't be without it and that's not me. I could not ever touch a drink ever and be fine with it.Originally Posted by prncezzml
An interesting perspective on the topic:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addiction
Seems there's more to this addiction stuff than meets the eye.
It's definitely much more than just a flaw in one's moral character, so there's no need to beat yourself over the head for your addiction.
In my experience, people acquire addictions as a way to deal with personal problems or pain. They probably won't get rid of the addiction until the root cause of the problems are dealt with. Sometimes it's hard to figure out wha's really going on, and that's when professional help comes in handy.
Great read thanks for posting that, i hope some people can learn a little more after reading that article....Originally Posted by Tock
