Satelite radios?
Who has a satelite radio? Do you have XM, Sirius, or other? How do you like it?

I have Sirius, and installed it afew weeks ago in my car.
I really love it. The choice of music is great, and the comdey stations are hillarious.

We have the XM one, it seems pretty nice, lots of good stations and my BF can record the songs onto the little player and replay them later at the gym where he doesn't really get reception. He usually keeps it in his vehicle though, I am still old fashioned and burn CDs

There is talk of a merger between the two companies right now and could happen sometime this year.

Does anybody here know what happens to people who own stocks in Sirius if the merger happens? I own 3000 shares of sirius and i would like to know what happens.

I love my Sirius. Only thing I don't like is the weak FM transmitter built in the reciever. It's horribly weak. I'm going to have to hardwire it into my car, and hopefully that will solve the problem.

I've got XM at work, and it's great. Couldn't live without it.
As to which of the two services is better, that largely depends on what you want to listen to. XM has a broader collection of some types of music, Sirius has Howard Stern and some other stuff. For me, it's XM.

Stern
Should I say anything more?

I just purchased a sirius receiver but I haven't hooked it up yet. The channel selection seems to be a lot better on sirius over xm with the exception of a few better looking trance stations on xm.

I've had XM since it came out and
I was one of folks who fell for the
lifetime price.Not definite,I think
it was under 800-900 dollars 4 life.
It was a while ago when i paid that.

For programming get Sirius
For sound quality (relatively speaking. CD will blow either away) get XM

But did you catch the latest news? Stern just got awarderd an $83 million stock bonus... they say it won't further dilute the shares - but I think that it's going to swing down today anyway. The President is also going to address the nation concerning Iraq, and it will probably be news people don't want to hear - like more troop involvement - which will kill the Nasdaq.
This stock kills me - I know it is going to rocket up eventually... Sirius was recently titled the fastest growing company in New York - and they are wiping the floor with XM as far as growth... just a matter of time and waiting for it I guess... if you are patient with your money.

if you have shares of XM you will get paid a premium over the stock price. if you own sirius you benefit from the stock price rising a bit.

I should sell, cause that much stock being put back on the market is going to kill it. But will the news of a merger with XM, deals with Disney and Sirius streaming video hold it? This is the reason why swing trading keeps people up all night reading candlestick charts and analyst opinions
Good luck brother - gotta love this stuff...

i dont think that it will kill it. its a predetermined bonus that kicked in automatically. it happens all the time in business when certain goals are accomplished. but because its howard stern it automatically creates a buzz and becomes news worthy.

i think he owns about 10x that amount lol, its really a drop in that hat to him. wth all this merger talk do you really think that the govt will allow one satellite radio company to operate as a monopoly? its an antitrust issue i doubt they will overlook. it would be good for investors, but horrible for subscribers because thats when the rates get a hike.
