Congrats Bro. My wife and I were looking at buying but the prices of homes here in S.A have escalated to such an extent that we can't afford to buy. So rent rent rent for us. Maybe one day.
Anyhoo enough of my problems congrats and hope all goes well with you and your girl in your new house.

Mortgage rates are at a all time low. Get pre-approved for whatever you can get pre-approved for and see how much your monthly payments would be. I would almost guarantee (unless you have a hookup on your renting situation) that the payment would be around the same, if not lower than what your renting for.

I bought a house! House payments, including real estate tax are 388 a month on a 20yr fixed loan!!!!! Gotta love those Iowa prices Not a bad little house either. Oh yeah just be careful, buying anything before marriage isnt the safest I had a friend buy with a fiance and the ended up breaking it off, and they had lived together 5 years before that. now they are fighting over the house. But best of luck to you man

congrats, you can still find good deals everywhere..

In minnesota, i can still buy wooded land $300 an acre..

a house, 1960ish 3** 2ba, finished basement, city water and sewer..

$25,000 retire, payoff the house, payoff everything, and drive a schoolbus during the winter for a job..

or work for the county driving heavy equipment clearing roads (it snows here)

all in all.. a good retirement plan..

Unfortunately not. My re-payments are about 4k more than what we are paying now in rent. The property market is at an all time high here.

    Congrats on the home.

I'd like to buy a house, but I just don't have a job that pays enough yet.
