My unbiased review of ipod video vs zune vs creative zen

I have had lots of experience with all three. The 5g ipod video, the zune and the last generation of creative zen 20 gig. so not the vision m for creative, but their previous model. (you have to know that sound quality is my number one concern with mp3 players. some say that all mp3 files, which i get all mine from ares and limewire and such, all sound the same until you get into expensive ear buds. thats horse rubbish, their sound quality outputs all vary greatly.) - also, when i compare sq, i am talking about using exactly the same ear buds for all 3 and same exact mp3 files

I will do creative zen first

pros- great sound quality ( thats really all I can think of, its a previous model without the bells and whistles of the new guys) its pretty much out dated. But, creative really is known for excellent sound quality

cons- It just did alot of things wrong. Fistly, navigation was done by a vertical touch pad. It is horrendous. terribly inaccurate and a great hastle. I would try and get to the next song and it would fly by like 20 songs. That really angered me. also, if you would be listening to a song thats ending, then you scroll through your song list, when the song changes, you lose your spot in scrolling and get dragged back to current playing

overall comments- i am not going to go to much more into it, its outdated. But it did sound really good

    ipod 5g 30 gig video

pros- very nice looking. size is very small, very pocket friendly. the black ipod looks very nice. the scroll wheel is kick ass. I have always been jealous of it through my years with the zen.

cons- the mirror thing on the back scratches to easily. sound quality...WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWO WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW OWWOWOWOWOWOWWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWWOOWOWOWOWWO. this is the shittiest sounding mp3 player i have ever owned (for aobut a week). The hiss is off the charts. it doesnt take a loud volume to distort the sound. IN fact, the sound constantly sounds distorted. it sounds fuzzy, and flat, and just plain bad. I CANNOT BELIEVE that people are satisfied with the ipod. The sound is my biggest gripe. o and people overall have been having a hard time getting videos on the ipod.

overall comments- This is an extremely shitty mp3 player. apple just doesnt have the capabilities to make a top tier mp3 player. they are hangin on by i tunes and the click wheel. and for whatever reason, people think they look cool and trendy and would rather go with the crowd than go with a quality product. apple should be embarrassed, but thats not possible since their are way to many blind sheep kkkhmmkkm fanboys????? i am really just puzzled as to how people think the ipod is so good when in fact in sound like complete crap.

    zune-

cons- i dont think you can use the mp3 player while its recharging. i have only had it for a couple hours now so i am unaware of some other flaws. i think people have been having a hard time getting payed for files (outside of microsoft song store) to the zune

pros- sorry to burst apple peoples bubbles, but i actually think the zune looks cooler than the ipod. its look has been getting ripped apart from the media, even on cnn, they were bashing its look hardcore. sorry but i think it looks awesome. jmo. its size has been blown way out of proportion, its only about a quarter of an inch longer, has the same width, and is thicker. it is bigger, but not to the extent that people have been babbling about.

The sound qualtiy is out of this world for an mp3 player playing ares and limewire files. By far the best out of the 3. Stunning really. rich, bass sounds good, lound, no distortion of hissing like the ipod, just sounds great overall

the screen is much nicer. much more colorful. the whole menu thing looks more colorful, more graphic what ever that means, over all just looks better compared to the ipod which looks pretty dull. i cant really put it into words, but just trust me, the whole look screen wise is amazing.

I am really glad i got fed up with the ipod's sound quality and returned while i had the chance. probably the smartest move i made all year.

There are alot of things i did not reallly get into. like battery, i just got the zune today, havnt really had the ipod long enough to test it extensively battery wise. This wasnt as extensive as i wanted it to be. just thought i would post up what jumped out at me

if anyone has any questions, i can try and answer and as i think of more stuff i will just post it up

o ya, dont if i mentioned or not. people have been having a hard time getting videos on to the ipod,

and they have been having a real easy time getting them on zune. IN fact, from what i hear, zune takes youtube videos extroadinarily well

one more thing i forgot. o by the way, the zune weighs less than ipod. Even the bozos on cnn got that wrong. that means zune is less dense, which means it is more resistant to falling

Zune has a 30 GIG memory.

My mate's got one and it's brilliant i think. He had to get it imported in from America and cost him 150 pounds, which is about 225 dollars.

I have the old Zen you are talking about, it was the longest battery time for its time thats why I bough it. You are right about the slide bar but that can be slowed down if you touch either ends of the bar and not slide it from the middle. I am still using it now.

30 gb. hard drive. no belt clip. the unit is 250. battery i believe is listed at 12 hours, and i think ipod is 14. the sound is better on zune and the screen is better also, so 12 hours can be justified

the old zen is a real good player. the touch mechanics are a little rough though. i had that one for a couple of years. great sound. great player

brookstone sells zune and zen. they carry ipod acceseries but no ipod. brookstone doesnt sell junk, they sell what the believe to be superior in quality.

so that to me sais alot about microsoft and creative

zune will not except copyrighted songs.... it deletes them. and the wifi between them is stupid because if i send you a song it stays on your zune for 3 days then deletes because you have to buy your own copy of that song.

Another thing... you can't share all songs through WiFi due to copyright restrictions. When you buy the tracks on the site it does not indicate which songs can be shared. You just get an error when you try to send to another Zune.

yea **** the zune. if you have time to gripe about Ipod sound quality while your working out its obvious you cant focus in on your workouts. its a portable mp3 player....not a harmon kardon sound system.....

Exactly! The funny thing is when Audiophile and Home Theater magazines review MP3 players the iPod gets the best reviews. The reviewers are pickier than the average consumer.

o i dont lift weights with a music player. it disturbes my sense of balance and gets in the way.

I will admit though, what you guys are saying about the copywrite thing. NOt being able to put copywrited songs on there, and the errors with sharing is horse crap. ya

I, as a consumer, out of anger, was voicing my opinion about what i think are inadaquecies with a 250 dollar thing

Ps. i get all of my music in different ways

I love my fiance's Ipod Nano. The sound is great. I'm so glad I bought it for her birthday.

The video ipods that I checked out did have very poor sound. Don't know why, but they did have a distorted echo. If Apple fixes them, or comes out with a new model I'll probably buy it.

in the grand scheme of things. to each his own really. I really didnt mean to stir anything up. I was kind of mad at the time i wrote that post.

I am happy for ipod people that they are happy.

and i will leave it at this. I think so highly of the zune and i think its the greatest thing since sliced bread
