What firewall is better to install?

I have the firewall that came with my windows xp. I want a better one. What is a VERY good firewall i can download and use for free that dosen't slow down my computer?

software firewalls can be very limiting..

for home use the avg is fine,...

or better if you have a cable modem... get a router (not a hub) and you'll be in business..

A router is great. I use one with the windows firewall and have not had any problems yet.

AVG, Norton, and McAfee are all decent programs.

I use zone alarm works great and once its set up you dont get too many annoying messages.

i use iptables with rules i made also use port sentry and webmin along side it
