    kawaski zx9

I'm looking to trade my bike for a 2001 ninja zx9. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with a kaw around this year (problems, thing breaking, etc.). The bike has just under 16000 miles on it and looks really nice. Just dont want to get a lemon. Any advice is appreiciated. The guy only wants $4000 for the bike or my bike and $500. Not sure if the price is right seems kinda low thats what concerns me.

I never heard of problems with them. What do you have now? 4k sounds a little high.

shes done that b4 (b4 my time) and shes done riding. We have two small kids and shes worried about what if we both die. You know how women are a little over dramatic sometimes or could it b to sensible. anyways I looked up NADA on the bike and it says average price is $4585 so I guess the $4000 isnt too far off.

Yea it has a seat. The orignal owner took it off and I never seen any reason to put it back on. I like it better without the seat. If the wife wanted to ride I would gladly put it back on

I'd rather have the 9. Crusiers are cool too but street bikes are way more fun. I have had a couple Kawi's. I'd say it's an even trade maybe even more like he'd owe you come cash. Your bike looks pretty smooth.

I have an 03 zx6r and it's great. Had a problem with the digital speedo for a while, but everything is great. That is the first year they introduced the 636. Mine is like a rocket. I got mine up to 168 and it bounced of the top end deflector. That is too damn fast on the road.

4K is wayyyy to much for that bike. I would guess around 2500 or 3K even for the 01.

WHAT? that bike blue books at like 3800$ for trade in value and like 5400 for retail. 4k is adescent price. not AMAZING but for an 01 its definately not horrible if its a clean well maintained bike for sure. you'd be lucky to buy an early 90's yzf 600 for 2500$ right now with how stupid the market is for bikes. especially going into spring time

No way. At least not in the NJ/Pa area. Blue book means nothing. Maybe just to the guy who doesn't know any better. You can't get blue book for a bike in this area. Its an 01 so its 6 years old. The bike was probably around 9k new. Not worth 4k in my world

I had the same bike in black with a micron high mount. It was stupid fast. I only got 168mph out of mine too. Street bikes are the shiznit.

Yea I went out and took it for a ride. Ran pretty good even with 16000 miles on it. The plastics were alittle scratched up more than I would b happy with. The frame and swing arm is polished so that a plus. I wold probaly go around 3200-3300 for the bike. I have seen some nice gixxer 750s going for about a grand more than he wants for his bike(cleaner newer and less miles) So I'm gonna wait and try and sale mine so I have some cash in hand. The guy has the bike on ebay with a starting price of 3500 and has no bids. the auction ends on sat. item #110085051984

I'd hold out for the gsxr750. I've ridden both bikes. The zx9r has way more torque, easier wheelies, faster in a straight line. Now the gsxr, if you're not a poser and you like turning on a sportbike, go with that. Its lighter, better suspension, way better handling. The only thing the gsxr lacks is the crazy low end torque. Thats not a bad thing necessarily, to me it feels more controllable in the twisties. Go ride each bike before you decide.

i wouldnt pay 4k for it either but i get stupid good deals on bikes but nonetheless i guarantee that bike averages over 4k. jus look on ebay they're selling for over 4k consitantly. if its a low miled clean bike that was well maintained yea its worth 4k. theres always better deals but its not horrible for someone with no connections to cheaper stuff.....
