Running 4000 Miles Across the Sahara Desert in 111 Days

I felt as if I accomplished something this past Sunday in running the AT&T Austin Marathon without training for it. My little accomplishment doesn't hold a candle to what these three guys did. Check it out:

That's cool. I had NO idea that the course was going to be so hilly. I know that Austin is more hilly than Dallas. But I had no idea that it was going to be that hilly. Running through Hill Country was really pretty.

It was my wife's first attempt at a full marathon so I did it in support of her. Took her/us 5 hours.

thats not bad at all mavs mine was 3 hours and 57 minutes but I trained for it and you dont train for marathons, so 5 hours is pretty respectable.

I participate in atleast one marathon a year. I do not train for them because I do them more for the mental struggle than I do the physical struggle. It makes me more mentally strong knowing that I can push through such terrible physical pain due to being mentally strong.

I did, however, train for a marathon in 2000 and did very well. It was the Chicago Marathon and I finished in 3:36. But for those that I have not trained for, my finishing time has been in between 4:30 and 5 hours. Good times!
