to any wrestling fans, Mike "Awesome" Alfonso committed suicide yesterday.
not sure why, but, thought id let you know. makes a change from the usual drug-related wrestler death.
attached a pic to jog any lagging memories:

I remember that guy I think.......
don't remember him
Mike Alfonso, better known to wrestling fans as Mike Awesome was found dead at the age of 42 in Tampa.
Friends were going to pick him up at his home, he didn't answer the door and was found hanging. This is being ruled a suicide until the results of the autopsy.
Awesome found great success as "The Gladiator" in FMW in Japan. He was a high-flying big man and was later made ECW champion on two occasions in 1999 and 2000, where he and Masato Tanaka continued their feud from FMW. While he was champion he signed a WCW contract, and Tazz was loaned back to ECW from WWE to take the title back.
Awesome worked for a short time with the WWF after the collapse of WCW during the Invasion angle and after that in All Japan. He had not wrestled in some time. Awesome was recently working as a realtor at Coldwell Banker.

What a shame.. real talented guy!
Timm why do you think so many wrestler fall into such pitfalls?
^^maybe they get the same rush from performing to a crowd that many musicians get and begin to self-destruct when they can't find a substitute.
mn probably has to do with meds
the body only has so much recoperation ability and these guys take beatings--more so or close to football players the difference is wrestling is year round. these guys get into all kinds of pain meds to keep going which has an effect on the mind after a long time.
it probably is also like tapper said and they need the attention and being in the light
now of course this does not apply to all wrestlers and there could be many reasons but I bet these two reasons are significant
maybe when the high of being on top of the world is gone a terrible ***ression is surle to follow
