Informative Speech
hey all
I'm a college sophomore and I have to give a 6-8 minute informative speech on whatever I want for my speech class. Honestly, I'm having a tough time coming up with GOOD ideas. The speech needs to be on something the class and professor will find exciting.
any suggestions?

I would strongly encourage you to prepare a speech pertaining to something that you enjoy as well. You'll be more likely to research the topic and remember it come presentation time.
Good luck!

Great idea! Thank you very much!
I was thinking something along the lines of heathly eating/dieting techniques but that could get complicated. Obesity is great because there are a ton of stats and info about it and I think the audience will be entertained, I'm already planning some good visual aids. Thanks again!

Thing is...I didnt even write out anything. I just figured it was a topic i could randomly ramble on and on about. It was 8 minutes..all i did was put like 5 topics on notecards and ramble for like 2 minutes.

how about how/why diet alone could help reduce a diabetics use of prescription drugs in type 2 especially.
and with decent diet and exercise many 1000s of people would never of needed to be dianosed as diabetic.
and in most cases (none genetic) correct diet and exercise would prevent heart disease, high blood pressure, high colesterol, diabeties tpye 2 and save the western world billions of pounds in trying to cure lazy, fat and ignorant people with problems they could of prevented themselves

well, I suggested the topic of obesity to my professor today and she rejected it. She said too many students give speeches on it. She also pointed out that the speech needs to be informative and that the class already knows that obesity is a problem. I tried to explain that I would include other aspects in my speech besides obesity but she just suggested that I find another topic.

give a speach about how it is acceptable in society for a woman to take drugs that contain female hormones and increase their estrogen levels i.e. birth control but it's illegal for men to take testosterone or any aas. Just don't give it on how rape only hurts if you fight it.

I think you should write about micro-penis's and include a photo of your pathetic thing you call a shlong an example...you will get the girls REALLY ENTUSSSEED! Just kidding tom, a picture of your vagina on people with adrenogenital syndrome will be much more appropriate.

Too bad, Prime. Well lets see.....
How about the topic of addiction. We all have an addiction of some sort, so your audience might latch on pretty well. I'd also encourage you to share some of your interests so it can help those who have responded to better recommend something that you might really enjoy researching.

I think I'm gonna go with something along the lines of how college students can eat healthy.
Last year I ate a lot of junk (fast-food, pizza, grilled cheese), combined with drinking 4 nights a week and I got FAT. I smartened up a little bit the 2nd semester and stopped gaining fat. This year I am trying to get rid of that extra fat by dieting and lifting properly. So far so good, the goal is 9-10% body fat by summer, I’m at about 12% right now.
So, I could give a speech on how to eat healthier while at college.

I did mine on steroids , 98 out of 100.
Instructor said it was an awsome speech and that was in december, it seems like I know 10X what I did then. There are alot of good sites out there on it too. Im doing my research paper on it too, its just so much easier to do something you enjoy reading and learning about. So do whatever you enjoy researching, you will do better.

one of my best was the history of guiness beer.
really an interesting topic, easy to find info,
I broke it down into three parts
History,
how its made,
different drinks with guiness.
I even got a couple of classmates to give it a try that weekend.
PS. this topic only works if you enjoy guiness beer.

Talk about something that interests you, if it interests you it will be presented better and the teacher will like it. 6-8 minutes is not a ton of time, should be relatively easy. Just remember to take your time and dont rush through it.

If the teacher is overweight, for a minute or two talk about how fat people should be banned society.....or something of the sort.
