    Al Sharpton/whats your history?

Heard on the radio that Geneologist discovered that Strom Thurman's (deceased/former senator and bigot)
Ancestors owned Rev. Al Sharpton's ancestors as slaves.

The djs also had callers talk about there ancestory and if they had any famous relatives?

I bet a few of us have some cool ancestory, so where are you from?

My only claim to fame is that my grandma is like 2nd cousins with the lady who played the mother on the old sitcom "Bewitched"

I did that national geographic genealogy thing where u send off a sample of ur DNA and they tell you where your ancestors come from.

apparently way back I'm ethiopian....I have red hair and pale skin...must have been a long ass time ago.

    Do they still do that?

I dont think ill ever know unless i did that cause my dad is adopted, sometimes I think I might be spanish or latino because my dad is dark complected, in his senior photo he looks EXACTLY like Ben Stiller as the spanish anchor man in Anchor Man.

Hell they probably just make the crap up.

On my mom's side, the family tree goes back to 780 AD in Rostock, Germany. Folks bounced back and forth between Germany and Sweden. They were mostly clergy, gov't functionaries, doctors, etc. Great-grandmother was married to a skier who won skies from the King of Sweden, some sort of national competition. Then they immigrated to the US around 1900.

On my dad's side, folks left France for Canada in the 1600's to trap furs. Back in 1680's, my great-great-great (etc) grandmother evidently had a few kids, then was executed for adultery, the first in Canada, or so they tell me.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm not the love-child of a space alien, though.

the furthest my gran got with the family history was a one legged cobbler (shoe maker) in like the 1500s.

Oddly enough, the Mormons have a dandy database of who begat whom. Dunno if they share their info or not . . .

There's probably a newsgroup (are you familiar with Usenet?) that can steer you in the right direction. If you have an unusual name, you can probably just Google it, and see what comes up. Or Google "Geneology" and try some of the websites that pop up.
