What happends if i dont go to Jury Duty?

what would happen if i didnt show up? this kinda sucks. i have changed my address a while ago and yet alot of things are still being forwarded from my old address. this time i get a letter today its jury duty sayingi have to be there Tomarrow! i didnt check my mail until about 9 tonight! so my employer is going to be pissed when i call at 730 tommarow... because of the forwarded address it wasnt resent until yesterday. and got here today. would i get in alot of trouble?

Show up dude...and when you do declare yourself a memeber of the Communist or Neo-Nazi party...Just because you're called doesnt nessecarily mean you're going to make it through selection. When they ask you questions you want to give them really right or left wing answers, making you seem really unobjective. Dont take what I said at the beginning of this post seriously as that might unnessecarily put you on the radar of some agency's youd rather not be on... But seriously when they ask you questions just give some really radical opinionated viewpoints and theres no way they'll even consider you...

I don't know about CT but in NY State they passed a law that everyone must serve jury duty no matter what.......doctors, lawyers EVERYBODY must serve. I would just show up because like captain said they can put out a warrant.

The Captain is correct. They can issue a bench warrant and send the police out to pick you up and bring you in. I'm an attorney and I have never seen this happen however. I have even shown up for a trial and not enough of the jury pool showed up so we had to continue the case. The judge didn't issue any bench warrants then. That being said, all judges are different and they technically can throw you in jail for it so I would go.

well i went and got sent home. i didnt care that i had to go it was just the fact that they messed my address up and i didnt recieve the letter until yesterday for todays court. short notice. my boss wants to kill me

As a FYI, they can't prosecute you unless they know that you got the notice.

If you should get another notice in 2 years, but they send it to another wrong address and you never know about it, what are they gonna do, send ya to jail?

All you have to do (next time) if you forget, or they don't give you enough warning, is call the court bailiff and they'll just re-schedule you for when you can make it.
