    Gym Rumor....

I've been told a few different times that getting into a hot tub, sauna, or steam room immediately after a workout can stunt/hinder muscle gains, makin ur workout pointless.....I can not see any possible way this would be true and seems absolutely stupid to me but just thought i'd throw the idea out there and see if anyone else had hear this...? when i asked why they believe this happens no one had an answer for me so i just told them they were stupid and went in lol

i've never heard that before but i guess if you were sweating real bad throughout your workout and lost a lot of sodium you might not want to keep sweating more out because you might not absorb your PWO nutrition as well. (not based on anything, just hypothesizing)

Complete bullshit. I love taking a hot hot shower right after I lift and letting the hot water hit the muscles i worked, it kinda pumps them up more seemingly, though very slightly if at all really. just feels really good.

Whenever people say shit like that dont you think to ask them how? I would tell them to explain to me why thats true.

I cant see how its possibly true in the least, why would getting in a hottub make your workout pointless? It will help with bloodflow if anything, same reason a lot of people tan right after a workout. I mean still have your PWO nutrition but aside from that the actual "action" of being in a hottub cant possibly hinder gains.

    ...to answer your question, YES
You can still workout and sit in the hottub and act like you'e relaxing while watching everyone take showers!!! It's o.k.....we're your bros...you can be straight up(no pun intended) with us.

Bad thing? There's been research stating that after an intense workout, taking a hot shower or hitting up the sauna can actually deter the muscle from repairing at a faster rate. That's why you see or hear about so many NFL players hitting the ice tub. It helps the muscle fascia repair by decreasing the swelling.

that's about saunas, but i think it just has to do with the temperature thing so i guess it applies here

One of the doctrines of massage therapy is that a period of hydration should occur after every session. Relaxation and massage of muscle tissue releases trapped lactic acid which enters the blood stream and causes a "sick" feeling.

Aside from this, I can't see a reason anyone wouldn't use a sauna. Probably some theory that came from guesswork.

wel think about it.. lets say u train really hard in a hot and humid environment like OKLAHOMA (****ing 90%+humidity) at 60 degrees.. sweat like a fat kid just walking from car to gym (bout 18feet LOL)

anyways if wat they are claiming is true then working out in this type of shit would be pointless as all my muscle growth would be hindered

Maybe not completely hindered, just slowed. Come in train in Ohio, I bet you'll get your pro card in 6 months.

I started this rumor back in 1988 to keep sweaty people out of the hot tub.
I took it a step further and told them that the sweat would react with the chlorine to start aging the skin 10x faster than usual.
