What cause alchohol to accumulate around the mid section?
I work in a night club and I see the beer gut quite a bit. The guy will be fairly skinny all around but then they just got that gut. Anyone know how or why it seems to go right to the mid section?

It's not the alcohal, it's the alcohal that is getting turned into fat. Everybody has apidose tissue which is a fancy word for fat cells, which store fat to be later used for energy. For reasons unknown (To me at least) body fat seems to be distributed randomly from each person. Subcutaneous fat is the body fat directly beneath the skin....which is the fat that shows that we all love to hate </3

Alchohol also increases estrogen levels, and there is alot of aromatazion in fat cells...
Depends where you are prone to store BF though.

On males body fat accumulates around the midsection and on females around the hips and arms. One reason why males dont live as long as females is directly because of this, the midsection fat actually lies ontop of your organs and eventually leaks toxins on them and is a cause of future disease.

It's usually not the alcohol that makes people fat. It's the food that people choose to eat with it or after it that makes them fat. How often do you see a drinker eat a garden salad after 4-6 beers?

how bout the fact that 1 beer (bud light) is like 110 empty calories.....and lets say you sit down and get wasted for me thats between 12-20 so tahts something like 1300-2200 empty calories consumed in probably 4-6 hours time and you sures to hell dont go running after that...you prolly go get a pizza or jack in the box and pass the f* out lol so basically in a 4-6 hour time span most likely at night with very lil energy being burned you have consumed between 2k-4k calories between alcohol and junk food.......do that a couple nights a week and ur a lil fattty

I think it may have something to do with insulin . Liquids with carbohydrates would elevate insulin quickly. Beer, soda pop, that sort of stuff all seems to go to the gut. High insulin encourages bodyfat around the midsection. But I'm no expert on this stuff.

I heard several years back that it is impossible for alcohol to be turned into fat. It must be burned up by the body, leaving any food or other calories you consume unneeded for energy, and they are stored as fat. Not sure if its tru or not, but if it was would help explain beer guts.

And when it comes to alcohol consumption and fat, it doesnt just get randomly stored around your body...theres a reason they call it Beer Belly, or Beer Gut, i never hear someone sayin "man ive been drinkin for so long, im really sick of my beer legs, or im really sick of my beer arms, or beer tits.."
