    Police Application...

Hey guys, I am considering appliying with a local law enforcement agency as a police officer and one of the questions on the integrity and lifestyle questionaire is about steroid use and sales. I have never sold AAS, but I have used AAS. My understanding of these questionaires is that they want to see honesty, so I would be better off admitting to use of AAS than lying about it. I am in Canada so the feelings about use are a little different that in the US...anyone have any comment or thought on this?

    Thanks,
    Big J

If there's a polygraph/CVSA ... then I would admit to it on the paperwork.

If there's not .... then say no and stick to your guns.

+1 right there. 3 of my good bros wanted to do SWAT team in my small town back home.

All of us used AAS and I know for a fact that all of them said "Nope, not me, i didn't do it"

I seen 2 of them for the first time last month since I moved out of state and they are F-IN HUGE. So I guess they busted the right people. lol

But they are still using. That was very obvious.

There is a threat of a polygraph and/or background investigation. From what I have heard, the background is guaranteed, but only my wife knows what I have done. My fear is that by the time they get to my application / interview it will be a question they concentrate on because I get asked all the time what I am on, etc. I will probably say yes just in case there is a poly.

    Thanks,

My fear is that I would say NO and then they would meet me and see that I train and ask specificall about that answer while I am hooked up to the poly. I have heard that they would rather see you be truthful about an issue regardless of what it is than lie about it....

I am still undecided...I hear what you are saying though. I know some cops that use so I will ask them there opinion. I would think that big strong cops that look good in the uniform would be desirable to a department so maybe there is an unspoken don't ask / don't tell policy: I say no on the application and they will not ask in the poly sort of deal...

Yes I do. I am in Canada and the view on AAS is different up here. It is prohibited or controlled or something, but you can only really get in trouble right now for selling. I do not even think possession is illegal if it is under a specific amount (i.e. personal use). I may be wrong, but that is how it was explained to me...

Well, back home we always joked how the SWAT guys all look like they could walk up on stage at anytime.

But I guess they needed to be that way. There is alot of drugs that come through the ports of South Louisiana

NYPD does not do polygraphs??? I am surprised...every force in my area (RMCP included) do polygraphs as far as I know...although I cannot recall if my buddy in RCMP mentioned it or not...Vancouver PD does for sure.
