Was there back in early 03'. Best advice is to become "invisible". Don't make yourself obvious and let the dumbasses distract the TI's. Don't bring anything you don't need (cigarettes, cell phone, PORN, ect). Remember your reporting statement ASAP. Become VERY good at attention to detail. Other than that, you'll learn pretty quick.
Physically, it is easy as hell, it's much more of a mental test. The lack of sleep and food sucks too, but they are gonna play more mind games than anything. As long as your not retarded, you can march good, and shine your boots, your ok. Best of luck man. What job you pullin for?

aha... 1979...
When asked about sunday services.. you want to go.. period.. more than likely you will be 1 of 3-4 guys who will go right after breakdfast, and you do your bunk.. get there, enjoy the women that are there, take a little change for the roach coach, and stay for 2-3 different services, i had 3 different girlfriends, practicing a little PDA, and missed out on all the cleaning back at the barracks..
Then base lib for the rest of the day..
good luck..
oh, only use 2 sets of your underwear, and or your t shirts, once they are folded and in the locker, leave them there, only use the two pair, and keep them in your laundry bag get it??? the ones in the locker once they pass.. they stay passed for inspection..
once you wash and dry them, it's hell to get them flat and folded exactly..
read about the history of the AirForce, chain of command etc..
good luck..The answer to your every question

You becomin a PJ?? GL.
As for basic, its a breeze. You really dont get lack of sleep, lights out usually before 10pm and you get up at like 5am. I was in basic in 1996. I actually wrote back to everyone how I get more sleep at basic than I did before.. haha! Being a PJ candidate, you should have no trouble with basic. In fact, if you are at all worried about the physical part of basic training, then you need to postpone or else you will fail your PJ school. I seriously hope you can already pass the PJ end physical requirements, or come very close at the very very least. Basic training, dont laugh, this is seriously no joke, is all about ironing and folding. Nothing will be good enough, in the beginning. As the weeks go by, your TI will become less and less hot headed and usually joke around and such around week 5. I really liked my TI.. very funny. You'll learn the ropes quick and just remember, their job is to yell, so answer how you are supposed to, and when he yells at ya for any reason, let it go in one ear and out the other. Dont be scared or anything about it, its actually pretty simple. Some people say dont volunteer for anything like dorm chief or what not, and I never did, i was an "invisible" guy, but if you do a good job as chow runner or what not, then you wont get hassled as much. But you will be more in the spotlight. Prepaire to lose weight too. Most people do. And dont do anything stupid. We had guys trying to hide candy in their lockers and trying to talk to the chicks while doing laundry, etc.. dont be stupid. just do what your told and keep us informed about how you do in PJ.

Don't stand out in boot camp but do go to church services on Sunday and get away for a few hours. After six weeks of living in a sausage factory even Navy chicks start to look good.
Example of standing out...I whupped everyone's ass on the mock PRT and got to be the PT Petty Officer. I spent my boot camp days working out "the Chub Club." No joke. Out of 80 recruits, we had 24 fatties and it was my job to get them in shape for the final PRT so everyone could graduate.

AF basic should be a breeze for you, at least from what I heard about it compared to the other services. As far as not standing out goes, definitely good advice. However, if you are a pt stud, meaning you can run faster, jump higher, push more, etc. Then I would say do not hold back. I dominated pt in every single unit I was in in my 3 years in the army and for that reason alone, my life was a lot easier. Being a pt stud helped me in nearly every way imaginable and got me a ton of respect.
