    Are you TOO big?

    I heard the words I've been dreading to hear. My lady thinks I am too big and doesn't want me to get any bigger. I don't feel anywhere near too big but at the same time I want to remain attractive and sexy to her. I have played with the idea of cutting up and getting some abs for a while now, Once my strength drops down a hair in the gym from cutting I say **** it and go right back to bulking.

    This is wei***ng heavy on my mind....

    This was always a big issue with me also. I've been working with I**MFKR on a cutting diet for the past couple of months and so far I'm down about 16lbs in 11.5 weeks and have not lost ANY strength, in fact, I got up 405 on bench press last week, squatted 505 for 8 reps yesterday and pulled 500 on deads for 6. These are all personal bests and were attained during a cutting diet. The key to keeping strength is to lose the weight slowly but consistently. It's possible to do, it just takes awhile. I'm thinking it's going to take 6 months or more to get to 8% bodyfat, but it's well worth it in my opinion.

    My uncle is the same way Benches... he's been lifting natural for over 16 years. Never once used gear and 3 weeks ago I watched him bench 540 3x. First time in my life I've seen a human up close bench that and KNOWN he wasn't and hasn't been on gear. He has a pretty high BF% and I was talking with him yesterday about possibly cutting because he would look INSANE! He is totally against the idea because he has worked far too hard to get the strength he has now. The idea of losing any shred of muscle has totally turned him off to the idea... which is kinda dumb to me because he could totally compete!

    I'm sitting at 16% right now

    I have less fat than I have had in a decade since I got on the HGH. I was always 18-20% BF even when I was 30 lbs lighter than I am now.

    Shitty situation for me either way.

    It came up when we were looking through some older pics of me from like 4 years ago when I was 225-230# She was like damn baby! get back to that size. bah!

    I will try to compromise...maintain the apparent size by not getting bigger. But also using the GH in heavier dosages to cut the body fat lower. So stay the same weight or even heavier while keeping the same size?

    Maybe that will work...whatcha think?

    I used to be bigger and not as lean. Maybe 13%. I was told by a couple girls its to much. I'm leaner and a little smaller now and i get a ton my compliments from girls. I am a lot weaker. But honestly i don't care a bit about that. Who do i need to impress? I'm strong enough to do anything i need to in life. Hopefully I'm never pinned under a VW and need to bench it off.

    thats what everyone does when they "cut" I dont think anyone wants or try's to lose muscle only bf.

    you know whats weird, everytime i try to get real strict on cutting I lose to much "size" (glycogen, water, fat, hopefully not much muscle) and look stringy/anorexic (at 200+ mind you) so I quit.

    what ive been doing is taking things very slow, I skim a little calories here and there each day, try not to overdo the cheat meals but still have them in moderation, and try to do a little cardio everyday. the less I try the better my results seem to be. ive been going about it for alittle over 6 weeks and I look really good. my strength has even gone up a bit and I look more muscular as im not d/e/p/leted.

    you could do the same, esp with the help of HGH. How much do you weigh now?

    Do what you want, if your wife doesnt support your wishes/dreams than thats a totally different situation. Im sorry but I would NEVER stop getting bigger or whatever cuz a wife or gf said so. My dreams will never change regardless of who happens to come along in my life. I cant see how a spouse can feel ok saying that to someone anyhow. I imagine my wife being a fitness model per se, and imagine the damn balls I would need to tell her I wanted her to stop. What an asshole I would be labelled, so forget anyone doing the same to me.

    EXACTLY my sentiments bro, i use to weigh 250lbs prob around 19-20% when i was natural... Now im sittin at 210 11%..and my bf is slowly dropping until i get to 8-9% MUCH weaker.. but i look so much better... People actually come up and ask me all the time.. you lift bro? or you a health freak?..I get somany more compliments from girls now... when i was 40lbs heavier all iheard was.. your pretty big... i am soooo glad i got out of the bulk at all costs mentality... its like bob chicarelo(sp?=) says,,, it aint how much you lift its how much you look like you can lift.....

    Another example... arguably the best chest development of all time,,, arnie... his max bench ever was 440... 440!...theres quite a few on this board that can outlift that... but how manys chest resembles arnold?

    However, it all comes down to what you want for yourself.. if you want to be big and bulky.. than do it, if you want to get lean, get lean

    I don't know. Its bb most of us aren't going to ever do anything serious with it. So to say she doesn't support your dreams is a reach IMO. But you want to be attracted to your spouse. What if she was going to do something you thought would make her look bad. Maybe shave her head? You would say no. At least i think most of us would. If my girl was doing something that was making her unattractive to me i would say something.

    Having a happy wife is more important then 10lbs of muscle.

    I think it is easy for us to get lost in the bulking phase. We see the scale go up, the weights go up and we think we are on the right track. Sometimes it takes someone close to us to put us back on track. I got up to 250 last year and thought I was on top of the world. Then my wife commented on my stomach and showed me some pics of myself and I realized that I lost my way a little. I look WAY better at 220-230 and my strength is still good.

    At some point, excess weight, especially in bodyfat, become a serious health issue. A couple of years ago I was trying to maintain a weight and bodyfat percentage that were not possible for me without a lot of AAS. I realized that I was addicted to a body image that was going to get me in trouble. That kind of size just isn't sustainable on my frame, without constant drugs of course. I'm about 20 lbs lighter and 2-3% lower in bodyfat now. I haven't run any AAS in about 18 months. It took me awhile to get used to not looking like a cartoon, but I definately look and feel better.

    I fluctuate a bit between 262 and 271 BF is 16% and dropping from the GH, not from cardio or dieting. Sometimes the GH makes me hold some water isd the reason for the ups and downs. Good advice in this thread bro's thx

    That is the best quote of the day, lol... I feel the same way. If you stop any girl on the street and hold up a pic of a powerlifter and a BB, 9 out of 10 will say the bb looks better.

    At some point, you look stronger(and healthier) ripped up than bulked up even though you are physically weaker. IMO, get to that point first, you dont look good ripped up at 120lbs, lol...

    I feel you brother but at 16% BF I don't have a powerlifter look. I just lack the abs and extreme definition that the more cut guys have. The issue isn't cut with her but size.. I guess volume? she says my chest is too big and it is cut nicely without the striations. I have a 54" chest

    This isn't supposed to be a cut vs bulk thread guys but more a size vs being smaller thread. Thx

    If bodybuilding is his goal, then that would seem strange just due to the fact that muscle lose does not have to be incurred in a cutting cycle ( at least not to a high degree). Now powerlifters tend to like that added leverage added by the extra weight. I would sacrifice strength for looks any day....not even an issue.

    Do you compete at all? I understand different people have different prospectives on what looks good. But I'm shocked anyone would knowingly look worse to be able to lift more.

    If your clothes are becoming too small and you cannot afford to purchase bigger clothes, then yes, you are too big (or on the verge of becoming too big).

    He only lifts for strength. When he caught the iron bug it became permanent. A cutting cycle will never be done... he's in his mid 30's now and hasn't been in an academic environment for a while so all he believes is the bad hype roids get from the media despite any physiological text I put in front of him. Mainly, he says he can't diet because he loves food. Keep in my this dude is the very definition of straight edge... doesn't touch alcohol of any type. He's only guilty of drinking Pepsi and smoking a cigar 2-3 times a year.

    He'll go to subway and get a double stacked BMT and in 10+years has never even had lettuce added to a sub. Just the meat and cheese. Stubborn like a mule!

    sometimes its a way for them to say "You're getting too fat" lol

    I got to around 20% bf 2 years ago when I was with my ex and she said I was getting too big. Really she meant I was getting too fat lol. I guess she was right, I wouldnt be attracted to a girl that was 25% bodyfat, why should she like a guy thats 20%?

    Unless you were lean and she said that, then it means what you think

    Either way, I dont have a gf now so I dont worry about it
