Working at UPS bad for muscles?

Ya a guy I know said I shouldn't work at UPS because it'd basically be like 5 hours of cardio and I would lose a lot of muscle because of catabolism. Wouldn't just eating enough carbs and eating enough in general prevent this from becoming a problem?

worked at the hub like 15 yrs ago.. for 2 yrs.. you are fine for the 1st 10 days or so, then hit a wall, cns burnout.. but if you work through it.. it's not so much cardio, as it is repetitive back breaking work.. good medical though..

It is rare to see someone over 40 working for UPS on the street. I guess when they get older they work in the office. It is tough back breaking work and many are out for periods of time from injury or strain. I talk to these guys once in a while. I think you would burn alot of calories but I would say their heartrate is up and down all day.

I worked there during college unloading trucks. I thought it was a pretty good workout until I got hit in the head a few times with falling boxes.

Lower the training volume, I am a DC guy myself, and I am not at all recommending Dc, but what I always thought works perfectly for labor guys is somthing like

Sunday- 1 set chest, 1 set delts, 1 set shoulders
Tuesday- 2 sets quads, 1 hamstring, 1 calf
Friday- back and a bi set

somthing to this effect, boom boom boom in and out in 20-30 minutes

by working out 1 set each muscle, THIS IS A SUFFICIENT STIMULUS FOR GROWTH, and it doesnt strip muscles of amino acids and glycogen like high volume workouts do

This workout doesnt demand quite the calories as does you high volume guys, which is perfect in a laborous position like ups. It does, but it doesnt.

all in all, i would reccomend keeping volume to a minimum with a job like this.

I could see a job like UPS draining one of energy at the end of the day with none leftover to workout at the end of the day. However, one the most ripped guys I ever met worked for UPS delivering packages. He said he never used 'roids and he just worked really, really hard. Nonetheless, you will never have to worry about being fat! All the UPS guys who ever came to my house were in pretty good shape.
