Working At a Bank?
Anyone ever worked at one, as a bank teller? I'm considering getting a job at Washington Mutual as a bank teller cause they start off pretty decent, but if it's incredibly boring sitting there all day then I don't want to... Anybody know much about these jobs?

I worked back a few years ago. I seriously was like Casanova at the bank. Their were so many females and I was the one of only good looking guy. Since I was in school and part time I would change branches very often. I couldnt believe how much action I was getting. I loved the experience and would go back at a higher level job of course.

I would take the job. Banks have good benefits also there are plenty of room for advancement and they all like to promote from with in. Also a bank will look a lot better on your resume then pet smart.

I was a banker before I started my own deal. Always ask for more training, you will advance pretty quickly. Always try to cross sell. If you see someone make a big ***osit, let your investment person know about it. Same way with a loan. If a customer pays one off, let your loan officer know. Most people go right back into debt when they can. Try to get on the lending side of things. You stand to move up faster and its based on performance. With tellers, you wont be head teller unless the old one gets fired or transferred to another branch. And whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE ANY CASH or LIE to customers or other bank employees. If you follow those recommendations, you will have a job for life. Banks dont pay very well, but they have a lot of benefits. Plus, lots of women at work. Good Luck...

I would go for a different job within the bank. Like Stock said, try to get on the lending side. Not sure what your school experience is, but if your close to graduating, you could probably get on some type of leadership rotational program where you will get experience in multiple facets of the industry. To be a loan officer, you don't need a degree in finance or anything. Hell, you could probably get a job without the degree (you would prob need an internship first though).
Check and see what kind of training programs they have and go from there. If your just looking for a job and not a career, I suppose a teller wouldn't be so bad as long as it was temporary.

I've never worked as a teller, but worked on the investment side at Chase. Not a bad place to work and like has been said, there are always young girls working as tellers. Most banks allow for promotions quickly with training. Their turnover is tremendous and you also have the ability to hop around to the different banks for better salary or perks.
