So it was on TBS last night like 4 times so i watched, i love the soundtrack, and i got to thinking... does anyone know what Jenny dies of....all she says is she has a virus and the doctors dont know what it is... at first i thought AIDS, cause of the drugs and needles and being a whore, but then wouldnt Forrest and Forrest Jr. have it too.... then i thought maybe Cancer....anyone else have any thoughts on this....

She could have got the aids virus after she had the baby. The kids my also have only had hiv and not full blown aids. No all babies will get the virous when in the woub.

You'd be suprised how many times a man can be exposed to AIDS through heterosexual contact and not get the virus. Typically, the one who gets the infected "load" has a much greater chance of getting it.

^^^ DEAD RIGHT. it was Aids. As with all other aspects of the movie, it touches on all the significant events in each decade of his life.

I agree that it is 99% AIDS, but why wouldnt they say it... all she says is doctors dont know, but why not say it.... i know the time frame would dictate if it was know or called AIDS, but i dont see why they couldnt say it, they were told us everything about all the other stuff, names and times and stuff....

Allot of the stuff in the movie is kind of just "said' without actually "saying' it.
For instance... The Watergate situation. They never really mention "watergate" specifically, but you are left knowing what they are portraying.
Same thing goes for the "Smiley Face", and various other references throughout the movie.
It really was a great, great movie. Very underappriciated IMO.

i agree with the smiley face, but the wateragte thing you can actually see the name Watergate on the hotel stationary on the desk so it is not implied...but i agree 100% about it being under appreciatted...

What i don't get is how he was semi retarded and was so sucessfull. The movie was just not plausible. I mean cmon lap the USA 100 times, get a purple heart, million dollar skrimpin bizness, meets Elvis ands teaches him moves, meets the president, run faster than a truck at 8yrs old, etc...

Well consider the time frame of that part of the movie. In the beginning of the aids epidemic, they didn't know that is was AIDS at first, just a immunity killing disease...it didn't get a name until several years later when they figured out what it was and the cause......

I agree that it was AIDS as well...I am no doc, but if a person has AIDS don't they actually die from another virus that they cannot fight off due to the AIDS? I think this would make it even harder to understand when it first started becoming an issue...although, it was just a movie...maybe they did it for effect?

Yesterday was the first time I ever saw the whole movie, it was amazing. Normally I'll just watch parts of movies on tv but I delayed my plans last night to finish it cus it was that damn good. And I agree, totally figured she had aids and the doctors didn't know it. Too bad Jenny was such a WHORE
