And I've seen numerous pros drinking gatorade on videos and such. Plus the pro that works out at my gym, I see him drink it. I'm sure there are some reasons not to but its just like the brown rice being a bad carb and tomatos are bad for bodybuilders. I eat one cup of brown rice for my meal after my PWO meal and have tomatos on the occasion.
Some of the smart kids just think to much into it and don't weigh things out

the quick acting carbs can be good sometimes
if anything you're depleated of glucose right after a workout so it isn't going to convert to fat at all if you aren't slamming a gallon of the stuff. If anything it's probably helping preserve muscle.
I've seen people on 70mile bike rides not consume any carbs and then they slow right down to nothing.
I make the gatorade from powder, it's cheap and keeps me going. I make it kinda weak from powder and drink it slow thoughout the ride.

for PWO i think gatorade is fine. the simple carbs and sugars are perfect for a PWO shake. you can even use apple juice or the like. it will all do the same job.

You're body needs to maintain a constant level of glucose in the blood stream. If you aren't consuming any carbs, the first place the body turns is muscle. It takes days before you start making ketone bodies and using fat to feed the brain. If you're buking esp, you'll never get to that point.

no need for sugar. end of story. just cause your bulking doesnt mean you dont have to keep a clean diet. whats gatorade gonna do for you that oatmeal cannot?
ill can really get into it if youd like. and if you say "but you need that insulin spike" then ill flip over a table or something.
if hydration is your issue try water. or propel or electrolytes.

simple sugars get into the blood stream way faster. What does oatmeal do for you gatorade does not provided you aren't drinking mass quantities? If you took a sip of gatorade every 10min for 2 hours what's the diff between that and eating oatmeal? In the condition where blood glucose is low, you want to put it back quick.

if thats what he is doing then nothing. but i dont think that is the case.
glycogen doesnt even come close to being depleted by 1-2 hours of weight training.
what is the hurry to replinish it. is he working out multiple times a day.
carbs are needed but glycogen synthesis happens at a rate of x. forcing glucose in the blood through waxymaize or simple sugars does not increase that rate. excess blood sugar is not gonna hang out and wait its turn to be utilized.
amino acids are what is important for protein synthesis.
preworkout nutrition should be the emphasis as im sure you know digestion can take hours.
simple carbs are great for bulk. complex are great for lean bulk.
