What is a 'referal' in our info

I see this thing that says referal: 0 in my info box. What is that thingy... I see a lot of vets/mods have a 1 or somthing in there... does it have to do with seinority?

I think it's member referrals. If you tell your friend to sign up and when they sign up they type in your name as who referred them to this site...? I don't know... Just a guess.
