I would be happy if he weren't such a dickhead. The gear has nothing to do with it. 80% or better of MLB is on/ was on gear during the last 15 years I bet.
Bonds has too much of that chip on his shoulder that he can hide behind his blackness, while the rest of the world can get crucified for AS, but if you pick on him, you're a racist. He's a dickhead.

I remember reading an interview in which he stated that he unknowingly took a substance referred to as "the clear" thinking it was flax seed oil
All I mean by this is, to his admission, it was an oral. Amount of BS in that statement, unknown.

Not because of the steroid use , but because he's a Grade A cocksmoker. A few of my friends play pro ball and it's a well-known fact that Bonds is one of, if not, the biggest dick in the sport.

There's nothing wrong with being cocky when you're that good, but when you are an asshole to fans that look up to you, people lose respect. He completely ignores fans and just has an overall "I'm better than anyone" persona.

funny how no one cares about the single season home run record now, is that what is going to happen to the greatest record in all of sports? I was praying that arod could hit 256 dingers before bonds hit one.

That whole BALCO mess was were he admitted using the clear and the cream. I think one was a lgel type AS like andro gel or something. the clear was supposed to hide or mask AS usage if I remember reading correctly. Shane Mosley had to testify as well in front of the grand jury.

Finally it's over, kind of sick of the whole steriod usage in baseball debate, and how his record will be tainted. Most players were using, and it happens in almost every sport, it's the era we live in. I think his attitude and the way he went about it was wrong and thats why there will be that cloud over his record. Lance armstrong always denied, denied, everything when he was accused, when we all know he was using!! The media needs to just move on, cause this subject will not go away, there will forever be use of illegal substaces in pro sports..

i love baseball... hell, i am from cooperstown, ny.... i honestly don't care about this record anymore. It's a shame that he took the bullet for steroids . He is a great great player. It makes me so mad that people are debating that Barry Bonds is doubtful for making the hall of fame. America should be celebrating like crazy, but rather we are all saying he was jucied up.... guess what i gurante half the pitchers he played against were juiced up... Hell number 755 was hit up a guy who WAS caught using juice.

Hell if steroids make you such a great basbeall player why doesnt lee priest go play for the devil rays and hit 1,000 hr's

it doesn't bother me at all about the steroid issue with bonds but it bothers me that the new home run record is held by a certified a$$ hole. hammerin' hank is still the home run king in my eyes until arod breaks it.

gotta give bonds credit..hes a crazy athlete and has won many-a golden glove and stolen a crazy amount of bases too..you cant forget that he was hammering homers back in the day when he was a skinny guy too....props to him, but a-rod will definately be crushing that record.
btw im not really much of a baseball fan, i just watch sportscenter every day. haha.

I'm very happy for Bonds. I could care less how he treats fans or the media. He gets paid to play baseball and he is/was the best of all time. He has never been a criminal and maybe he could careless what everybody thinks about him but I respect him for that. I've seen interviews where he was nice and insiteful at times and when he doesn't feel like answering the same questions over and over, he'll end the interview or change the subject. It's not illegal to be a rude or bad guy. Congrats to you Mr. Bonds.

Exactly, the pitcher that threw him the homerun that tied the record has failed a drug test for AAS. If steroids makes people hit homeruns then why isn't there 20 or 30 more sluggers getting close to the record?

Bonds is a hell of a baseball player and athlete. I give him all the credit in the world. Steroids or not, who cares, its still one hell of an accomplishment besides performance enhancing drugs are used in all sports in one way or another. Not to mention he had to put up with the media in his life 24 hours a day for the last 5 years and the man didnt break. He just kept doing what he does best. A-rod will probably break his record unless he gets hurt. But the one MLB record that will never be broken in DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak!!

The only people that I know that would say this are the one's who have never played before, or one's who just do not have the ability to play.

I used to be a huge fan. The game has gone to shit. Steroid controversies, overpaid players, expensive tickets........ Being a baseball fan is like dating an alcoholic cokehead. More drama than Dawson's Creek. No thanks.

I don't have a doubt in my mind as to wether or not barry's use steroids . I know he has and don't care. There's probably just as many that have as haven't. And I don't know who used in the past from the '60s on. Arod has used as well so all of his nuthuggers need to get a grip on reality.

No evidence except his body transformation and Cansaco says he's used. I don't need evidence and it's just my opinion but I believe he's just as guilty as Bonds.

i have followed arod closely through the years...any true baseball fan has....and his transformation has been very gradual and his stats have always remained very stable

not saying theres no chance he ever used anything, but i would defintely not be quick to assume he has...not like bonds who never hit 50 hr's but hit 73 out of no where at a time where andro and steroids were extremely rampant in the league

    the man is a freak.

Steroids would help strength, but with 100 other factors that play into hitting a homerun, the reality is strength is really a smaller part of the equation. The biggest advantage steroids would give is recovery time decrese.

As has been said by many, steroids are not going to improve hand-eye coordination. They are not going to improve proper swing fundementals. They are not going to improve weight transfer. They are not going to do a lot of things.

I hear arguments about increasing bat speed. Yeah, well, maybe some. But strength does not equate to speed. You might get the bat to speed a little faster (better acceleration) but top speed is not going to significantly increase.

If you REALLY want to look at crutches and cheating from Barry, look at his elbow braces. They help enable a more consistant swing and optimal swing path as well as allow his arms to extend to a straight, locked position consistantly. And anyone who knows baseball knows that the fundementals of the swing I just mentioned will hit you more homeruns than a little bigger muscles.

Look at where he hits the ball with his bat. Right in the sweet spot towards then end where the most speed and power is generated. Show me how steroids improve FUNDAMENTALS.

Screw the naysayers. He is the current homerun king. Deal with it. So he is an asshat and arrogant. He is still the best homerun hitter and deserves some respect for that if nothing at all.
