I of course want Houston to get it so the Astrodome won't be torn down, among other benifits that would come for my city.

Houston already has all the necessary stadiums, although they will have to build one more - I forget what it is.
Houston is loaded as far as facilities go. But do you think they have the worldwide appeal of a NY or DC? There is also the heat. I realize all the venues are indoor, but wouldnt it still have to weigh in the descision making?

What worldwide appeal did Salt Lake City have?
World Wide appeal is not that big of a factor when your talking about the Olympics.
Weather may play into it but I doubt it's a make or break situation
Good point, but didnt it take some pocket lining to pull that one off? I hope the games do come to Houston. I think the city has a knack for rising to the occasion when presented with the opportunity. What worldwide appeal did Salt Lake City have?
Probably did take some political leverage of some sort and hopefully the people pulling strings for Houston tug on the right ones.Originally posted by Cousin Eddie

What Olympic year is this for?
I am pretty sure it is for the 2012 Summer Games.
Anyway, it was narrowed down to NYC and SF yesterday. My vote goes to NYC now, I dont understand SF being there.

I agree 100%. If they want a bridge to show on TV, the Hartman would have looked as good as the Golden GateHouston getting cut is booness![]()
Pheedno, you are in my old hood. I used to live on the lake next door to the beach club and also at NR#1 and Kirby.

Quick piece of trivia--- The Golden Gate has 48 full time painters that touch it up year round.
Thats where I was. Actually its Repsdorph and NASA. It's been about 8 years. That area has changed a lot since that time.
Dont forget the Kemah Bridge, the Causeway, and my personal favorite, the 610 Bridge! (talk about a beautiful shot for tv)

Austin
San Fran! Incredible city! By the way you have got to be nuts to be one of those painters painting Golden Gate! I drive by it a couple of times a week and you haven't got enough money to make me want to do that!
Id say San Francisco, of the two remaining (NY and SF) It is the prettier of the two IMO. Im not out to offend any NY peeps here but if i were competing, Id rather go to California.
P.S. what is with the votes lately...i havent been able to vote for a while
peace
