Motorcycles!motorcycles!Motorcycles!
Just wondering who has a crotchrocket, and If so, what make and what do you think of it. Any aftermarket parts, exhaust, extened swing arms ect, ect, ect. Want some input because Im looking into buying a Yamaha or Kawasaki. Either oa 600, or a 1000..cant decide yet, but was thinking Id get bored with a 600 after a month or so why not just buy the 1000 right. (and im talking of the Race ready bikes, not the Svr's or shit like that)

I have a 2006 suzuki gsxr 750... any performance upgrade you can get for it...
I love when people say they get tired of a 600 theres not many people out there that can push a 600 to its limits.... also 600 can be more forgiving... on a 1000 one little mistake can mean your life.... i know a 600 is the same way but any one that has been on has road either or understands what im saying..

Haha sounds like your getting ahead of yourself. Get a 600 ride that and get used to it. If you can honestly say your bored of it u either cant ride for shit or are a prodigy that should ride AMA. 600 go plenty fast, but a 1000 there is no room for error for a new rider. You wouldnt know how to save yourself if u **** up somehow.
As for me i have a k6 gsxr 600. I have a race air filter, slip on yosh exhaust, blacked out taillights, pazzo levers, frame savers, power commander.
Extended swingarm on the road is purely for show, it will decrease handling alot. I would never get one.
-
yea extended swing arms look like crap.....

I have an aprilia SL 1000 with racing chip and factory racing exaust. Big difference between 600 cc and 1000 cc is less shifting. 600's arn't exactly mopeds and are plenty fast, they usually rev out further and produce almost as much hp. First bike? If so you'll probably crash it anyways. It's usually safer to start with something less than a 1000, mine picks the nose up real easy if you get on the throttle.

agree with the extened swing arm part, I never liked em. But no, Dumb thing to do, but Ive been riding around with my Best friend on his brothers 2002 gsxr 600 for around ayear yet(he has honda CBR600rr). Never got my temps or anything, never rode a bike before, and jumped right on the thing and 1st time down my street hit 90+. Trying not to sound too cocky, but It just came naturally, and im bored with his 600, or maybe because its not mine lol. I just dont understand how they have layed their bikes down once or twice before when I was with one of them, and they both have more riders experience than me. Or maybe because they are retarded.
But I do have to say the new Kawa. ZX6-R would be nice to have.

well thanks for proving our point as to why you should not get a 1000 ... and good luck on becoming another statistic in which makes my insurance goes up.... thanks..

the thing with the 600's though, is that what these manufactures are doing to make these HP' gains, is modding the bike to tthe point where the you only get that horsepower when above 15,000Rpms. Its all High end power, no low end. The only exeption to this is Triumphs Daytona 675. Lots of torque, being of course its an inline 3, with bigger cyclinders'.

only thing you seem to care about is speed.... there all fast... it all has to do with the rider... i have gone to track days and walked 1000's.... it has to do with the rider...bottom line... if you are just buying the bike for a status thing ... and to brag about having a 1000 then you are not understanding to beauty of riding.

Im no statistic. Being on a bicycle on the road is just as dangerous. You can die either way pootytang. thats how I see it. Again , its not my riding that would kill me, or your riding that could kill you. if anything..its the people on the road around you that dont pay attention

so your saying you doing 90mph your first time... is not going to kill you... ok... im sorry im wrong because i have not been riding for years... and had good friends go down and one killed.... bikes are dangerous.... and yes cagers do get in the way very often but only experience can make you better .... But im sorry if I offended you ROSSI for calling you a statistic but i give you 3 months tops from the moment you buy the bike untill the point you wreck it... and if you make it that long you can come back on the board and flame me... because i will still be here.... good luck...

Sorry of your loss man. All i was saying is that being on the road with anything, even walking is just as dangerous as doing a wheelie down the strip. A good friend of mine, who's father was killed in a motorcycle accident just a month ago, was doing only 25-30ish on his "cruiser". Killed because a truck trailer hit the side of the road, tipped over and fell on top of him. Its the people around you you should be worried about, thats all I was saying. Doesnt matter how much experience you have.

The 1000 is nice for me because I use it for transportation and tend to short shift also it lugs and pulls nice on the highway. The engine is good for 11k rpm and I rarely go above 7k. I think If you are getting board with a 600 you are in for a world of hurt, it means you are too crazy to ride safe. I know a girl who rides (rode) a daytona 675 and had no fear. She ended up in intensive care this summer. You kinda need to have your first crash to learn respect for what can go wrong. It is more likely going to be you than the people around you that ultimatly decides the outcome even if the first wrong move is the other guy.

theres a old saying....
there are riders that have been down and rider that will go down..

hmm. Crazy maybe. I think im crazy, but I also think im smart when on the road. Idk if that makes any sense. you can be both. I honestly beleive it all lies upon what the people around you are doing.
-
you keep refering to people around you....
people around you dont make you roll the bike over top of you because your showing off and over rev when letting out the clutch..
-
or when you go to hot in a corner and lay it down....
most motorcycle wrecks that i have seen did not involve any one but them.

Unless this guy wants ride the track primarily then he might as well get a 1k. And even then it's going to be up to him whether he wants to use a 1k or a 600 for the track depending on how technical the track is and his personal preference. We all know that a good rider can run laps around 1k's on a very, very technical track but a non technical track the 1k will own. In the end it all comes down to the pilot, not the bike.
I myself have a 636 and a 04" ZX-10R
I would urge the original poster to take your time if you do get a 600 and especially for a 1k. And don't do anything you know you're not ready to do yet regardless if you’re around your buddy's or by yourself. Don't try and attempt what you see another rider doing and think wow he made that look easy and then you go try it 100%. You should try new things on your bike but you need to ease into trying them and be cognoscente of where you try them at.
When ever you ride the back road twisties learn the course first before you ride through it fast or try keeping up with the vets. Most likely the guys who are dragging knees or are really leaning their bikes probably ride those roads all the time. Don't have enough pride not to tell the guys "hey I’m going to hang in the back" until you feel good about it"
Also I would purchase a "good" set of tires as soon as you get the bike and have a professional dial you're factory suspension to you're weight. Being that your a newb I would try and find someone the same weight as you take the bike out to provide the tuner some feedback of what the bike is doing and will allow the tuner to greater set the bike up depending on what you're trying to do but even if you primarily ride the street, a suspension tune is worth the 60-80 bucks.
But you should also ride the bike as well to learn what and how to tell the tuner what's going on with the bike. This will take some time to learn how to do being that this will most likely take place on a track and you will have to do track days a lot and see what works for you and your riding style.
Oh yeah, please alway's wear you're gear!!!!!! I know you see guys out all the time wearing t-shirts and a helmet with tennis shoes but the pavement monster shall meet them soon. I am guilty of this and have been down once with gear and once without gear(always wear a helmet). I can say I enjoyed going down with gear on as opposed to no gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Depending on you're budget, I would also invest in a good helmet because in this sport the more costly the the helmet the better in terms of comfort and quality. Not to say that the lower end(200-300) helmets won't save your ass but a good helmet like Suomy(my favorite), Arai, Shoei, Shark, are all in the upper end of the helmets. Higher end helmets breath better, are lighter, and are just the shittttt period. If you had to get a low end helmet I would Mos Def get a HJC as for the price they are good quality IMO. I wear a Suomy.
But that's enough advice for one day. Oh yeah The Best, Best, Best investment is a good set of no-cut frame/spool sliders. Save you some dough in the end depending on how bad your future wreck will be and beleive me you will wreck. I've wrecked 2 times in my 6 years of riding.Last edited by swing lo; 09-04-2007 at 12:16 PM.

This was my old ride, got it the first year they came out in 2003.
This is my next bike, going to wait for the 2008's though. People either love it or hate it. I like it because it's like a supermoto and a sportbike combined.

how fast where you going? I laid mine down at about 50ish right in apex of the turn when i started laying back into it, someone had thrown gravel onto the street. lost a bunch of skin but didnt roll so i didnt break anything. <-- That definitely slowed me down a bit. on the street atleast.
1000's to a novice 600 rider is death. A 600 is VERY forgiving a 1k isnt at all. WAY more toque you can cartwheel it easy. ive been on a honda 954 929 and a yamaha r1. The yamaha was the most forgiving to me..... dono why. Sounds like you should stick to a 600 for a while, the kawi 626's are nice bikes.

my 2 cents
get a 600, and ride it till u own it,in other words wen u can keep up with all the liter bikes on ur rides that have twisties and straights, then go with a bigger bike. the power on the big bikes can really hurt u quick.i high sided my 929rr once and low sided it twice( the high side was a bitch), GL i hope u dont die
