I've done a total of six track days between last year and this and I've never had to tape them. Of course I pull all my lighting fuses, which is what everyone is concerned with - not being distracted by lights. Plus, photos come out better without tape all over the bike.

You'll notice everything is stripped of my bike. Plus my oil plug and filter are lock-wired. And naturally I'm running water wetter. All wheel weights are taped. So basically all bike prep requirements are met by any track day organizer, and I've ran with four different groups.

WOW.. an R6 for your first bike?? who told you that was a good idea?? Have you taken any riding courses, paracticed in a parking lot or anything at all? Do you wear a helmet and gear all the time?

I ride and race and yes.. wreck. The wife and I both ride and we're going to a trackday for her in October called femmoto.. it's just for chicks. I am all for people getting into riding but PLEASE understand a 120+hp race bike is NOT a beginner bike by any means. I wish you the best of luck in the land of no insurance and horrible roads with no helmet laws..unless things have changed since I was last there. ^^^I agree, but I've always contended that sportbikes are the safest design on the street - if you can keep your wrist out of the throttle - because of their handling characteristics. Come on let's face it, riding a Harley is like trying to ride a barko-lounger on caster-wheels.

Ya the oil drain plug needs to be wired....what about the oil filter?

then.. IMO, this isn't your first bike, but your first street bike.. big difference. but there isstill a Huge dfference in capability. I agree that sportbikes are WAAAY safer than Harleyson the street due to better handling/braking/resopnse.

I will post up some of my action shots from Pahrump NV (Spring Mountain Motorsports park) and ButtonWillow and Willow Springs... on my '06 636, '04 R6 trackbike, and maybe something from the new '07 SV650 Nakedbike.. 1 month old an 2700 miles already :

My good friend just totaled his 999 last night for the second time this summer. Just got done putting it back together, all it needed was for the plastics to be painted. He put full coverage on it, took it out for a test ride and crashed it. He was wearing a full armored suit so just dislocated all the bones in his foot. The insurance company isn't going to pay, they said coverage isn't active until the next business day. HA HA. This time it's f-ed for good, the engine is spewing oil.
Oh well that's only the 7th bike this kid has totaled, not because he doesn't know how to ride, just a complete psycho. Make sure you know your limits.

Just remember the cardinal rule... Never, ever, ride above out your head. It's easy to tell when you're violating this rule... your a-hole is in a constant pucker!
