How do you clean up computor to run faster

I have a computor that I bought about 10 months ago. It is not used for anything other than music, maybe 1000 songs, pictures about 100, and internet. When I first got it I would click on the internet icon and the internet would instantly pop up. Now I click on it and it takes about 1 minute to pop up. Is there some way to clean up the computor or do something to get things going fast again, it is always making that clicking sound like it is thinking or overloaded.

Are those things accurate ?? It said it can only repair 15 items on the free version.. It said I had alot more errors than that..

Go to Start/Accessories/System Tools and run Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup.

reformat your hard drive.....get the windows Cd that come with your computer and another cd that should be labeled "device drivers", insert the windows cd in the cd drive, restart your computer, and it'll bring up some options upon reload....click erase all and reinstall windows- all your shit will be lost, but it'll be " a brand new computer", then once windows is installed, insert the drivers cd- and that'll install all the programs to get your shit to run correctly....make sure you have ur aol cd or w/e else u need for internet and if ur computer literate, its not real hard....

Just trying to help,, I run adaware and spybot everyday, I have had um so long I dont remember where i got um. but they were free, and i never had a message telling me anything like that, They make a huge difference in your speed though..

another thing I do is open internet explorer,,,, at the top tool bar click "tools",,, find "internet options" under the general tab I "clear history",,,,,"delete cookies" and clicking delete files will pull up a window that gives me a box that says delete all "off line content" that cleans out the temporary internet files.. sometimes those can get pretty big, as for me there is nothing in there important.

Thats just deletes tmp files, they does not kill anything active running such as an executable.
I personally recommend getting a copy somehow of spy doctor.
Since you dont know what you are doing in depth, I would advise you to rely on an application vs picking through the registy, BHO, CLSID's, proper exes.
