It is just humor. pwned instead of owned like a pseudo typo. Kind of like pron or pr0n instead of porn. teh instead of the. It might be a fark.com cliche. Like "it's teh sucks" or "moran".
I feel like posting the squirrel with big nuts picture, and an admiral Akbar picture, with a caption saying "It's a trap". lol

i often wondered this too then i found this on Wikipedia:

Pwn is a slang term that implies domination and/or humiliation of a rival. It sprang from the similar term "owned" and is used primarily in the Internet gaming culture to taunt an opponent that has just been soundly defeated. Examples include "pwnage" or "you just got pwned". It can also be used, especially by non-gamers, in the context of getting "pwned" by The Man.

In Internet security jargon, to "pwn" means "to compromise" or "to control", specifically another computer (server or PC), web site, gateway device, or application; it is synonymous with one of the definitions of hacking. An outside party who has "owned" or "pwned" a system has obtained unauthorized administrative control of the system.

The term was one of 16 to appear on the 2006 "List of Words and Phrases Banished from the Queen's English for Misuse, Overuse and General Uselessness," released annually by Lake Superior State University.[1]

it sort of explains it but i still dont undersand where the **** the P came from............

    Leet speak:
Leet (written as 31337, 1337, and l33t), or Leetspeak, is a written argot used primarily on the Internet, but becoming increasingly common in many online video games,[1] which uses various combinations of alphanumerics to replace proper letters. The term itself is a degenerate form of the word "elite", and the language it describes resembles a highly specialized form of electronic shorthand. Initially, the word leet was used as an adjective, to primarily describe the behavior or accomplishments of others in the community. In that usage, Leet generally carries the same meaning when referring to either the game prowess or, in original usage, hacking expertise of another person. From adjective form its use then expanded to include use as an expletive in reaction to a demonstration of the former qualities. With the mass proliferation of Internet use in the 1990s into the 21st century, Leet has since become a part of Internet culture and slang.[2] Leet may also be considered a substitution cipher, albeit with much variation from user to user.

Dude it happened because people would accidentally hit the p all the time instead of the o when typing owned in video games. So it just became accepted and now is widely used -.-
