What is an acceptable BMI for a child

And this plays off of the other thread where the girls mom was pissed and said the girl was not "that fat" she wasa "big boned" (cause the gov paid to have that done, that's how she knows).. School sends home obesity notices with students, parent upset

and do we really want schools, society, or the Government to set the standards that people are judged as acceptable by.. ??

discuss.. next thing you know we will continue to empower the gov to tell us what type of sex and what religion we can practice or which of these would be acceptable..

I sat in a birthing class last night, had a doc tell me that i must, and am required by the hospital to have my child immunized before i leave with the child..

I said, i don't think so.. when did this country become a socialist environment.. I have choices if i choose what is best for my child.. why do you think autism is so prevalent now..

pay me $100,000 so i can take care of my child when you experiments go wrong.. but ummm.. no thanks..

Yeah, they try to force you but they have no legal right. Ive even had after school things with my daughter where the teachers were trying to tell the parents how to be parents. I grabbed my daughter and walked out.

I also took the opportunity to explain to her shes not a sheep....

When does it become neglect by the parent. Granted if they are a little overweight its not. But some kids are really obese. As a parent you are responsible for your child and their health.

what about exposing your child to 2nd hand smoke??

the point being the gov or a different body of people are forcing you to do something to your child.. your child not their.. and that is the argument..

I do see your point. But if your not feeding your child and a kid comes to school hungry all the time its reason for the school to do something. Why not for over feeding your little heifer

Because its not threatining their life. I know the argument...down the road...blah blah. But the more power we grant the govt the less freedom we will have.

You could use that excuse for any number of things. I cant believe how people are just ready to lay down feedoms to the govt!?

Its none of the govts business if my kids is fat, skinny, short, tall, has a lisp...etc

If the kid is too fat to stand up then its abuse but if they are a little overweight and the school sends home a letter Id burn the superindendents house down!

Maybe not but you get my point.

There is a fine line like you said. A little overweight is nothing. But all i can picture is the kids on the Maury show that are 9 and 200lbs
