I was watching the news this morning about the fires in cali. They already made an arrest for arson. Now the news is calling it terrorism. The news is also talking about a link to al qaeda. There is no even hint of a link but saying its going to be investigated. So if there is no link why even bring it up. Also they go on about how a fire is a cost effective means of terrorism. All it would take is some kerosene and match.

It just seems they are always trying to scare the public. I guess that's what gets ratings

How can arson be classed as a terrorist act?
Bonfire night is on the 5th ov November here, it celebrates Guy Fawkes, a man who failed to blow up the houses of parlimnet in london a few hundred years back, they threw him on a bonfire as punishment.

In tradition people build bonfires all over the country to mark the occasion, being a firefighter its our busiest night of the year, the reckord last year was 38 fires in 6 hours in Mossside, Manchester.
Anyway as were surrounded by rough council estates, gangs go on to eachothers turf to torch their bonfire (hardly South Central i know) it makes a change from lettgin peoples tyres down.
Anyway could this be classed as a terrorist act now?
I know its UK but really talk like that is pathetic, unless there is cold hard proof that is what was intended.

Why can't our government just hand pick the most intellegent badass people in the millitary and train them on specificly going after these coward mthrfkrs and make an example out of them.It's hard to believe that a country where people live like pigs can have even the slightest fear in our government.I think the time for reacting to terrorism with diplomacy is well over.

Oh yeah maybe it wasn't an act of terrorism but just the thought of it pissed me off.

Gotta keep that population panicking... that way you can pass more things like the so called "patriot" act and make them believe it's for their own good...

It's a freakin forest fire folks... there are tens of thousands of them every year in north america... most are natural, some are accidental, a handfull are arson. Almost all of them are put out or controlled in time. Anyone who knows anything about fighting wild fires know that environmental conditions (like the wind, age of forest, dryness...) is what makes the difference between a small fire and a county burner... NOT some so called make believe terrorist!

Nah that is rubbish,
that is like an officer told me about a moorland in yorkshire, becasue it has such a high moss content it caught fire about a 100 years ago and as the peat is so...er... water proof?? putting water on it does not do a thing is it is constantly burning underground and when the moss dries enough for the fire to burn up the roots it flares up and sets the whole marsh land on fire... YEAH OK WOT EVA TREVA!!!

You want my thoughts, i think its a arsonist that has links to the IRA and has been going up there every summer to set fire to it as a political stunt for the cause, and, i think he has been doing it for the last 100 years or so.

hey man, i hate the media also... but i was born and raised on the border and it is EASY, EASY, EASY, to cross illegally - both ways - if this really were connected to al qeda i would not be surprised. the very day after 911 we should have put our military on our borders... but BOTH sides of the government failed us big time on that one. believe me, as many al queda's that want to be over here right now ARE OVER HERE RIGHT NOW... waiting. all they really have to achieve is destroying the economy... think about it. what about municipal water supplies? massive air handling systems at major public areas?... just to name a few. don't kid yourselves, TSA is a joke, if they wanted to cause massive mahyem they could've done it easily already... and probably still will. my bet... after the next election when we are at our weakest.

i agree that the media creates an environment of fear, just not sure how much the government actually feeds.

i saw an interesting story on some news show (can't remember, but think it was on nbc) that talked about the creation of fear. that summer the news was all about reporting shark attacks off the florida and california coasts. as it happened, the journalist reported that year shark attacks were actually lower than the year over year average, but because there wasn't enough interesting stuff to report on, the media created a year long story that elevated fear of swimming in ocean waters.... it's amazing how the media can manipulate society.
