from what I understnad there is only three companies making the raw whey product. This product is then sold to the other companies that add their flavoring colors bcaas ect. Well these three companies can not keep up with the demand, so they got together and decided to raise their prices.

Anyone know of any Canadian sites that are cheap? I've been getting my stuff from www.sndcanada.com but very expensive. Need somewhere else. I wouldn't mind getting ON whey in 10 lb. bags over here for $50 bucks

There has also been much debate over whey isolate & concentrate.
This is one of the more accurate articles I've read, and it reconciles the controversy quite well:

Yup. This is the reason for the rise in prices. Not because of demand for whey protein. Believe me the number of people taking whey protein is absolutely miniscule compared to those who consume dairy products which is where whey comes from.
Ethanol is on the rise and its the domino effect from that that causes dairy and thus whey protein prices to rise.

I can't believe you American guys do not do the Sam's Club thing. Food is cheaper in bulk (chicken, fish, red meats) and they sell EAS protein for $28 fro 6lbs. They also have Pure Protein bars for cheap...and they are good.
Not sure about Costco...any have input on them?
