    Computer download problem (Spam)

The other day my wife (she is not very good at surfing the internet) was on the computer and either hit some web site crap and now we are having problems with the computer.

Every couple of minutes an ALERT comes up from the lower right hand side of the computer. In the lower right side there is a blue circle with a question mark in the center flasing a red circle with a slash in the middle (like a noel sign).

Then a warning cmes and says "System alert" System has detected numerous active spyware...etc

If you click on the warning it sends you to a "Spydawn" web page which wants you to download there system.

How can I get rid of it?

Try and go into your control panal and see if it installed the program. If it did just uninstall it. Do you have a spyware program ? If not i would get one, most are free.

spysweeper and spyware doctor have free trial versions download them and install on your system

avg antispy and adaware are always free download them and run ALL the programs one at a time

you should be set after running these programs they will find what you need

go to bitdefender.com they have a free online scanner for viruses

also check out trendmicro housecalls another freebee.

If I don't have coffee what other tasty liquid beverage can I use? Hey I fixed the problem last night. I took me over 3 hours but I did it. I had to go to one of those nerd computer forums to finally figure it out. You damn muscle heads, all you do is lift weights and watch porn, not that there is anything wrong with that cuz I do the same thing.

BTW thanks for your guys help.

Actually the bet is hijackthis but you need some knowlage to use it. The best thing to do for newbies is system restore if your using XP..... and if your doing a scan remeber to turn system restore off as it holds stuff in the vault and scanner cannot clean effectively....
