Can't believe the housing market down in the states
I'm seriously thinking of buying a house in Florida or Cali after browsing at what's available. $200,000 would buy me a new mansion pretty much. Plus I wouldn't have to deal with the winters here (Canada, -50 C right now).
I wouldn't be able to buy a half decent house where I live for $200,000. I would have to buy a renovated 1, maybe 2 bedroom apartment. And I supposivly live in one of the cheapest places in Canada. Even making almost $30/hour as a welder along with my girlfriend making $25 as a nurse we can't afford jack squat here. I could jump into the oil boom here but then I would be away from home 3/4 of the year. Screw it I'm looking for work in Florida.

rite now IS NOT the time to be looking for work in florida......the market is WAY down, new construction is virtually non-existant.

Those houses for 200k in FLA are built in what were cow pastures. If you want to live on the water it costs $$$.

I've spent a good amount of time in florida. There are places where houses are built in rows as far as the eye can see. Yeah, miles away from any action, hot as balls in the summer because you are inland. My parents have a place in florida that is far from 200k but right on the water. It just depends what is important to you.

I'd prefer to be away from the bigger centers. I live in a city of about 300,000 right now and it drives me nuts.
