Personal Trainer?
Hello, I was wondering if any of you on her have personal experience as a personal trainer. I'm thinking of going to school for it, and would like anyone to help me with the pros and cons of being a personal trainer. Any helpfull advice is appreciated. Thanks

Make sure its what you really want to do. You would be better off going to school for physical therapy, or some other clinical exercise rehab specialist because you will make a lot more money.

The school I'm going to covers the physical rehab as well. So if I dont pursue personal training I can shoot for that and give it a try. As far a personal trainer. is it steady work. I mean i'm sure clients come and go, but can u make a decent living at it?

Don't expect to get anywhere in personal training if youre starting out as a freelance trainer. You need to build up reputation, and the only way to do that is either:
A. Working under a gym management.
B. You used to be a pro bodybuilder
95% choose option A, which is what i'm doing right now. You can probably work out the advantages and disadvantages with that.

A very wise personal trainer said to me a persional trainer is not a career.

do it as extra income, not a full time job/career

it depends on many things--
1.where u want to train & how is their client base?
2. their pay scale
3.ur ability to talk to people, sell packages & your self
4. being a fitness professional
etc etc etc.........
i work for a corporate gym & we get a percentage of package prices... I do pretty damn good. other master trainers do quite well also--but it takes a while to get a good, steady client base & following.

I wouldn't go to school for it. I do it on the side, and did it through school. A lot of the people I work with have degrees in exercise science or something completely unrelated. You don't need a degree to do it, just a nationally accredited certification such as ACSM, ACE, etc.

I can imagine how it would be to be a PT and have cute female clients?
